5 Editing Tricks to Make Viral Videos as a Coach

"The secret of a good video is not in the footage, but the sound!"

Video content has become an essential tool for coaches.

But it's one of the hardest games to play when it comes to content creation and capturing leads...

Why is that?

Because it demands A LOT of your time...

And the results are a gamble.

However, if you are good with videos... that's it. You WON!

How to stand out?

You need to learn the art of making Viral Videos.

What if I tell you there is a secret science that the most viral YouTubers and video creators use when editing their videos?

In this article I will share with you 5 premium tricks...

And one of them, is the secret of how to make people addicted to your videos!

Let's start...

5 Editing Tricks to Make Viral Videos:

1. First 3 Seconds are The BOOM

I see a lot of coaches with 10 second intros...

Starting the video and explaining for 30 seconds who they are...

I am sorry to break it to you but no one cares.

People watch videos for quick value and entertainment.

You, wasting their time with your brand and how many credentials you have...

Just proves that you are not really focused on them, but on your self.

That's why your videos suck.

If what you offer in the video is valuable, people will know you have value to offer.

They will like, share, and your video will reach more people.

When it comes to online videos, the first few seconds are critical.

Think of this moment as your opportunity to grab viewers by the collar and keep them engaged.

For a coaching video, the “BOOM” could be an unexpected insight, a client success story, or a provocative question that sparks curiosity.

Try starting with a line that instantly communicates value!

See how your engagement and reach change.

Another thing...

2. Don’t Let the Same Scene Last for More Than 7 Seconds

This is another mistake I see lots of coaches do.

Even if you film yourself and you talk to the camera...

Do zoom in, zoom out every 3 to 7 seconds.

This recaptures the viewers attention.

Today’s viewers have shorter attention spans than ever.

Keeping them focused means switching things up frequently.

Adding transitions, text overlays, or close up shots can help break up the visual monotony and keep viewers visually stimulated.

Editing Hack: Use B roll footage, such as scenes of nature, people interacting, or relevant stock footage, to add diversity without losing continuity.

This one is a must...

3. Edit Out Filler Words

Words like “uh,” “um,” and “like” can diminish your authority and make content less watchable.

Editing these out keeps the pace fast and the focus sharp, helping you project confidence and clarity.

One "uh" is enough for the viewer to swipe up and forget you even exist.

Yes it's ruthless, but it is what it is.

And you have to adapt.

The best part is that doing this, unlike in the past, is super easy .

Many editing tools have now AI integration that analyzes your videos and automatically removes filler words.

If you're new to video editing, try using tools like Descript or Adobe Premiere’s audio editing features, which simplify the process.

My personal favorite is CapCut.

They allow you to locate filler words and remove them, creating a more polished and professional final cut.

When it comes to editing secrets, this is the BIG ONE...

4. Add Sound Effects

Do you know why some videos are just better than others, and you cannot really say why?

Because of small sound effects that anyone barely notices.

All the Pros on YouTube have one rule...

Nothing you show on the video should appear without justification of why it is there.

In other words, everything on the screen should feel natural to the video.

If you add footage of campfire, add a fire crackling sound in the background...

If you do a transition, do a Whoosh sound...

If you show text on the screen, add a Cling or a Notification sound...

These small changes make the BIGGEST difference.

They determine whether or not your videos are easily forgetable or addicting like a drug.

Sound effects can also add a new layer of engagement to your videos, enhancing emotional resonance and helping viewers stay tuned in.

If you want to draw in attention you can play with an attention grabbing melody that makes people feel tension...

If you want to make people feel a specific emotion, there is a sound for all emotions.

The real art of editing videos is orchestrating the emotions people will feel while watching.

And emotions are what people really get addicted to.

Remember, subtlety is key.

Choose sound effects that match the tone of your coaching message.

Avoid overuse! Too many sound effects can make your video feel cluttered or distracting.

Use sound to complement your message, not overwhelm it.

And finally...

5. Remove The Fluff

Fluff is any content that doesn’t directly serve your message.

For coaches, the fluff might be extended personal anecdotes or unnecessary repetition.

By cutting to the chase, you’re respecting your viewer’s time while ensuring every second of your video serves a purpose.

1. Start with a clear, concise script to avoid extra material. As a general rule, make sure every sentence is important and no longer than 7 to 14 words.

2. Watch your video from a viewer’s perspective. Does every segment contribute something valuable?

3. Review your video with an eye for brevity. Anything that’s redundant or drifts off topic should be trimmed.

Less is more when it comes to viral videos.

This rule applies for all content.
