5 Game-Changing Updates by Google

Google announced five serious changes to how people search on mobile.

Google's app for iOS will include shortcuts to various actions other than typing in a typical search query.

Google is upgrading the mobile search bar with features that will help users find more relevant results in the coming months.

Google's mobile search results are about to become more visual, with a greater emphasis on images and video.

Here's what you need to know to stay on top of these updates:

1. Google Search Shortcuts

All advanced methods of searching Google will now be more visible with clickable shortcuts on the Google app for iOS.

2. Google Web Stories

Google is making mobile search more visual by integrating Google Web Stories more viscerally.

According to Google, “So we’re also making it easier to explore a subject by highlighting the most relevant and helpful information, including content from creators on the open web. For topics like cities, you may see visual stories and short videos from people who have visited, tips on how to explore the city, things to do, how to get there and other important aspects you might want to know about as you plan your travels.”

3. Results In The Search Bar

Google is making it quicker to discover things in mobile search by showing links to results in the search bar.

Before you submit your query, Google will begin populating results as soon as you start typing.

4. Enhanced Query Refinements

Google makes it easy to locate the most relevant results by displaying a variety of query modifications.

Google will suggest ways to narrow your search as soon as you start typing a query into the mobile search bar.

5. Multi Elements Combination

Google is transforming mobile search results pages into a perpetual stream of discovery.

Google will no longer require you to switch between the Web, Images, and Video tabs because it will all be displayed on the front page.

According to Google, “We’re also reimagining the way we display results to better reflect the ways people explore topics. You’ll see the most relevant content, from a variety of sources, no matter what format the information comes in — whether that’s text, images, or video.”

These new methods of exploring information in mobile search will be available in the coming months.
