5 Reasons To Create Content On LinkedIn

I am just a mentor,
Standing in front of her community,
Asking them to love LinkedIn!

What's not to love about it?

Yes this is an overused, cheesy and cliché dialogue from the movie Notting Hill where Julia Roberts is expressing her love for Hugh Grant. While I am definitely not crying while writing this article, I am still infusing all my love for LinkedIn in it for sure.

My love for LinkedIn began a couple of years ago. The two major reasons constituting this love are:

  1. LinkedIn is a leveling field: Anyone and everyone has access to the thoughts and opportunities which weren't really accessible before this platform.
  2. Limitless potential: If you know what you want, then you can leverage LinkedIn and it's various content sharing modes to maximize your potential and reach.

Since the WHY of LinkedIn is clear for me and a lot of other creators, here are the reasons for you create content on this platform:

  1. Reach: Chances. People talk about "getting a chance" a lot on this platform. We all feel we can do a little better if we get a chance or if we get those kind of contacts which can lead to phenomenal growth. Well why don't you write? Creating insightful and relatable content in your niche can lead to these "chances" which you want.
  2. Community Building: The fact that there are other people who experience the same things that you experience makes up for the reason for creating a community. No one likes being alone in these experiences, good or bad. People seek to connect with other people to create more meaningful connections. Communities create infrastructures for these connections. Collective growth, learning and building trust are few of the reasons to build communities on LinkedIn.
  3. Opportunity Creation: When you create reach and build communities, you also create opportunities! While this should not be the end goal for you, this can certainly be a driving factor for creating content. From full time employment opportunities to business leads to startup co-founding opportunities, I have seen it all because of content creation. Your dependence on job portals and openings will significantly reduce!
  4. Revenue Stream Creation: Opportunities come to you not only in full-time or part-time employment format but also in the form of speaking opportunities, coaching opportunities, affiliate programs, influential content, freelance projects and so much more! Most of these do not require you to leave your current job or commitments. And that's pretty cool, I must add here :)
  5. Thought Leadership: If you are not driven by the first four points then consider this one for sure. Publishing your ideas and beliefs can create credibility as well as leadership in that niche. This is the biggest point of attraction for founders and CXOs and Business Owners and senior management professionals. While that might be on the horizon for you, instead of doling out your insights later, why don't you start now and achieve all the outcomes mentioned here?

Remember: Keep it simple, to the point and focus on your niche. You will be GOLDEN :)
