We are living in a very unstable world right now.

And this can have many consequences for businesses.  What will this instability bring?

No one really knows for sure.  But one thing is certain, being agile and being consistent in business will provide a solid framework as we navigate these rough waters.

World uncertainty and a changing business landscape will make for a bumpy road ahead but there are some key things that you should incorporate into your business framework that will allow you to thrive (and not just survive).

#1  Adapt to Changing Client Needs

As world instability grows, your client needs will evolve.  When is the last time you checked in to see if your clients’ needs are still the same as they were a year ago?

Think about your upcoming meetings – what can you ask them that will assist in determining whether your service is still meeting them where they are right now. Or more importantly, whether your service is still relevant.

What’s most important to them about solving the problem or challenge that your service solves for them?  Has it changed since you started working with them?

How does it make them feel to struggle with this challenge?

Do they foresee any future issues with the problem that you are helping them solve RIGHT NOW?

Think of other important questions that will provide insightful information that could shape the future of your business.

#2 Communicate and Build Rapport

Getting to know your client and having them get to know you will be paramount in building trust during unstable times.

Make your clients feel comfortable working with you and keeping the communication lines open will be key.

Make extra calls, ask for feedback, send extra emails and texts – always in a way to add value and not just to ‘sell’ them.

Think about free resources that you have available that might be of assistance to them.  Put these pieces together and communicate how it could help move them further along.

When you are seen as a valuable resource, they will always turn to you first when they are in need of a solution.

#3 Show Up and Be Seen (Up Your Marketing Game!)

The harsh reality is that if you don’t show up online and spread your message consistently, it will be challenging to stand out amongst all the noise.

Create a calendar of how you will show up, when and where.  BE CONSISTENT.

You won’t be top-of-mind to your prospective clients if you don’t have a consistent omnipresence.

Consistency always wins!

Which social media platforms will you consistently post on (article, live video), which stages will you be speaking on, what advertising channels will you be present on?

Thinking of upping your marketing game? We have an upcoming, free workshop starting on April 25th that will be teaching how to show up consistently and be seen so that you can create an ongoing pipeline of interested clients.  This is specially designed for Mediators, Legal and Divorce Professionals.  Highly valuable content will be shared.  You can sign up here:

#4 Play the Long Game

Unstable times will come and go.  You can bullet-proof your business by playing the long game.

That means building your brand consistently and authentically.  It means giving up quick gains for long-term gain.

As clients get more hesitant to spend money in an uncertain world, it might mean adjusting your sales cycle - which could get a bit longer.

Be patient and have empathy as expecting the same results as in yesterday’s world will lead to stress and much frustration on your part.  And more importantly, your ideal clients will sense your impatience which could lead to being turned off!

Slow and steady will always win the race!

#5 Develop a Resilient Mindset

For me, having a resilient mindset means being creative when solving problems and being ready to adapt or pivot.

One thing will be constant and that is CHANGE.

Having the mental fortitude to deal with change will help build that resiliency muscle.

Always surround yourself with people who empower you and get clear on what’s in your control and what isn’t.

When you are building a business with a long term vision and a legacy, you innately create resilience!

I’d love to hear your thoughts.  What one piece of advice do you have about thriving in an unstable world?
