6 Key learnings from 6 years of entrepreneurship
I was reminded on Linkedin the six-year anniversary of my marketing consultancy/agency, I am filled with gratitude and pride for the journey so far. I would like to thank everyone who congratulated me publicly and personally in the DMs.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of training and working with top companies such as SIRIM Berhad, Petronas Dagangan, and many more global companies in digital marketing and LinkedIn strategy. This journey has earned me the top voice in social media marketing badge on LinkedIn and a substantial following currently exceeding 35,000 followers at the time of writing.
In celebration of this milestone, I want to share the six key learnings that have shaped my business and my approach to marketing consultancy.
1. Sales, Sales, Sales
One of the most transformative experiences for my business was working with a sales coach for 18 months. This collaboration helped me to refine my sales strategies, ultimately enabling my business to secure clients internationally. The importance of a strong sales foundation cannot be overstated—it’s the lifeblood of any successful consultancy.
2. FOCUS
In a world full of distractions, focusing on one thing at a time is crucial. Whether it's acquiring more clients or growing your followers, maintaining focus ensures that you achieve your goals efficiently. Multitasking might seem appealing, but dedicated focus yields better results.
3. Building an Audience is Optional
You don’t have to build an audience to have a high-revenue business. Many successful businesses thrive without a large following. However, having an audience can propel your business to the next level, offering additional opportunities and a wider reach.

4. Relationships Matter
The relationships you build today can bring clients in the future. I am still getting clients from relationships that I forged many years ago. Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships is essential for long-term success. I am grateful to have the opportunity to build these relationships trhough my podcasts as well.
5. Consistency is Key
Since 2020, I have been hosting weekly webinars without fail. This consistency has helped me gain clients from around the world. Regular, reliable engagement builds trust and positions you as a dependable expert in your field.
6. Resilience
The journey is not always smooth. I have witnessed other consultancies and agencies fold, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Resilience has been my ally, helping me navigate low seasons and emerge stronger. Staying the course, even during tough times, is crucial for long-term success. The saying goes "it's not about timing the game but time in the game".
Looking Forward
As I look to the future, my business will focus more on the media side of things, with a particular emphasis on growing the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon podcast into one of Asia's top business media platforms. The journey so far has been incredible, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
