6 Small Steps To Empowered Life By Design

Too often people “lead lives of quiet desperation and die with their song still in them.”

That’s a line written by Thoreau over 175 years ago, but it still rings true today.

Living an empowered, self-directed life isn’t really that hard.

It’s just that we are not taught that it’s possible, nor how to do it.

Here’s six simple steps to set you up on the path toward living an empowered life.

Clean up the mess.

Having messy relationships, poor health or fitness, a cluttered, disorganized home, and living on a shoestring budget are not the path toward happiness and wellbeing.


Get super clear on what you value.

It’s easy to say you value health, family and happiness – who doesn’t?

But once you get beyond that, what it that you most want to be known for?

What do you want people to think of and say about you when you’re not around?

What do you most want to center your life around?

These are your values.

Declare them and then…


Live in alignment with your values.

Make every decision in direct correlation to what you most cherish and want to create.


Know who you are.

Knowing your values is a good start, but then you still have to discern Who You Came Here To Be… your highest potential and greatest possibility for your life.

Determine that as your personal mission and then accept nothing less of yourself.


Create a vision for the next phase of life.

Then, and only then, ask yourself,

What do I really want to experience and create with my life?

Get clear on what mark you want to leave on the world.

What do you want to learn, contribute, and create?

Where do you want to travel?

How can your life be a contribution to the greater good?


Live a high vibe life in every way.

You want to be the kind of person who is a force of nature rather than the one complaining that things are not going your way.

Celebrate your wins, learn from your losses, and lift others up each step of the way.

Self-empowerment is an inside job.


Cultivate high vibe beliefs such as “Life is always working for me!” and then use your mind to train your brain so that you come to see the world in a more positive, high vibe way.

Catch your negativity, challenge it by using your mind to ask your brain if those negative thoughts are what you want, or even true, then change your perspective to a higher vibe way of thinking – such as gratitude, peace, and acceptance.

These steps are simple, but not always easy. But we’re talking about your life here… and the quality of your life is worth learning these skills!
