Learn this simple simple rule:
1. Have full dose of emotional intelligent; but adding technical intelligence will give you an edge.
2. Learn to crack jokes - it is a hard labour world, isolated from regular community. The jokes helps you to get-by.
3. Have large capacity to tolerate bullshit from your Colleagues and Bosses - don't take any beef personal - trust me, you will get lots of bullshit - laugh over them
4. Be a team player
5. Take all orders with fun - do not complain, life in the rig is semi-regimental
6. Have at least one indulgence - smoke tobacco, chew tobacco, drink coffee, be exercise freak or a prayer warrior etc whichever one will help you kill boredom and mitigate stress.
7. Most importantly: Be safety conscious - watch the back of your co-worker
If you can keep to these seven simple rule - you will have real fun working in an oil rig. It is our world, the real world of an oil worker. Love it!
