The 7 Inner Child Archetypes

The 7 Inner Child Archetypes

Hey,

I hope you’re doing well!

I recently finished an amazing book by Dr. Nicole Lapera, known as the Holistic Psychologist on Instagram.

Her book, “How to Do the Work,” delves into the topic of reconnecting with and understanding our inner child.

This section resonated deeply with me as it aligns with the personal growth journey I’ve been on, both independently and with the support of my counselor over the past 5 years.

Dr. Lapera introduces the concept of the seven inner child archetypes, each representing different aspects of our inner child.

The archetype that struck a chord with me the most was the overachiever. I found myself reflecting on how this archetype manifests in my own life.

Here are the seven inner child archetypes for you to explore along with a brief explanation of each:

  1. The Abandoned Child - This archetype often feels deserted, alone, or neglected, seeking security and reassurance.
  2. The Invisible Child - Representing feelings of being unseen, unheard, or unnoticed, this archetype craves validation and recognition.
  3. The Pleaser - The Pleaser archetype seeks approval and acceptance by prioritizing others’ needs over their own.
  4. The Unlovable Child - This archetype struggles with feelings of unworthiness and believes they are undeserving of love.
  5. The Fearful Child - Characterized by anxiety and fear, this archetype seeks safety and security in a threatening world.
  6. The Wild Child - Representing spontaneity and creativity, this archetype embodies freedom and uninhibited expression.
  7. The Overachiever - Driven by a need for perfection and validation through accomplishments, this archetype strives for success at all costs.

I’m curious to know which of these archetypes you can relate to the most?

Feel free to share your thoughts!

Warm regards,

Elan
