7 Insightful Tips for Using AI on LinkedIn

Does this scenario sound familiar? You asked ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for a translation or writing ideas, and it happily complied. But you forgot to delete its opening remark and ended up publishing the result with the introduction… Oops!

This is just one of the small but embarrassing mistakes that can happen when we get carried away with tools that write for us. While the buzz around AI is still loud and the hype is at its peak, it’s crucial to examine some of the less glamorous aspects of using AI on LinkedIn, along with the ways AI can serve as a powerful tool in marketing, inspire creativity, and support sales professionals and job seekers.

Netta Doron , a Content Marketing & B2B Expert specializing in LinkedIn consulting and management services, and I have joined forces to bring you effective tips on using AI on LinkedIn. In this article, we will discuss the advantages, challenges, and smart ways to leverage advanced AI tools so you can achieve real results while maintaining your authentic voice and personality.

1

Netta Doron’s Tip: AI Can't Replace Your Personal Voice

Many texts can easily be identified as AI-generated. People can already recognize when a text was created using AI tools, often due to unnatural phrasing or overly marketing-oriented language that doesn’t reflect everyday speech. Humans have a "radar" for detecting writing that lacks emotional value, coming across as dry and devoid of real meaning, beyond the weight of the words themselves.

The Solution? Use AI-generated content as a base and add your own knowledge and personal experience to it. This is the cherry on top! It greatly enhances the content, giving it depth and making it look entirely different from the original AI-generated result. Of course, the quality of the prompt also matters—one must learn to "speak prompt."

If there’s one thing AI can’t do, it’s to convey the experience and knowledge we’ve accumulated over the years and through our actions. Therefore, it is essential to integrate this into the content.

Rinat Keinan’s Tip: Crafting a Rich Prompt

AI is like human intelligence. If I asked you to recommend 10 interesting places to visit in London, how would you respond? Since we don’t know each other, you might find it challenging and give a shallow, generic answer. The same goes for AI. AI is programmed to answer any question, but if it doesn't fully understand what we want, the results might be superficial at best or nonsensical at worst. That's why crafting a rich prompt is so crucial.

A prompt's structure is like code—every word matters and influences the AI's understanding.

Let's break down the prompt into three main components:

✅ Context: Include information about the context of the request. What do I want? For whom? This helps the AI understand precisely what is being discussed. It’s important to define and write in a way that leaves no room for interpretation. For instance, the term "software" could mean electrical software, an app, computer software, or hardware software. Try to avoid words with multiple meanings or ambiguous contexts.

✅ Request: Clearly define what you want the AI to do. Be as specific as possible.

✅ Attributes: Include specific attributes to achieve a richer and more accurate result. I call these "specifications." For instance, if I ask for a professional description of my experience, a basic request might yield a generic description. However, by specifying details such as emphasizing my educational background, starting with awards I’ve won, highlighting areas of interest, and including mantras like “I aim to create products that change user behavior,” I’ll receive a much richer and more tailored description for LinkedIn!

Netta Doron’s Tip: AI Doesn't Always Save Us Time

This has happened to me repeatedly: I sat down to write content using Claude or ChatGPT, only to find myself wasting time crafting the perfect prompt and making countless revisions to improve it.

Sometimes, I prefer to reverse engineer the process: I'll start with the final content I've already written and let it enhance and refine. This approach works wonderfully for me.

AI-Based Responses for "Warming Up Relations" Avoid using LinkedIn’s auto-complete and comment suggestions—they often sound fake and generic. Instead, use LinkedIn’s suggestions as conversation starters, then modify and add your personal touch. For example, when a new connection joins your network, greet them warmly and casually ask how they found you. From there, continue the conversation naturally, as you would at a real-life conference when meeting someone new. Even though using automated response buttons is tempting due to their speed and efficiency, authenticity is not their strongest feature.

Another example of an AI feature on LinkedIn that I find less valuable is the conversation buttons under posts, like “How can…” or “Why…” in response to the content above them. I doubt anyone opens and reads these in an age where we're already overwhelmed with content and information. In this case, AI embedded in LinkedIn seems to miss the mark by being AI for AI's sake.

Rinat Keinan’s Tip: Using References to Improve Content

Another way to create accurate and personalized content is to help AI learn your writing style or one you resonate with.

Providing existing references that speak in your language can help AI align its output more closely with your desired style, without needing to define writing skills that you may not know how to articulate.

For example: If you have excellent resumes, upload them to LinkedIn and ask it to create texts from your professional perspective, based on your background and experience. This has worked great for me!

Rinat Keinan’s Tip: Invest in Training AI

I highly recommend investing time in training the AI. I suggest using ChatGPT as a leading model for writing. Just like on a first date, spend a little time getting to know each other, and then you can reap the benefits. Conversations with the AI improve significantly once it knows you better. Simply telling the AI you're not happy with its response isn't enough—you need to explain why.

Help the AI understand you in-depth, just like building deep relationships with people makes communication easier over time. You know those friends who understand what you're saying before you even finish your sentence? You can achieve that with models like ChatGPT if you invest the time.

6

Netta Doron’s Tip: Use the AI Tool of Sales Navigator

It may not be brand new, but it’s worth mentioning—it’s a serious upgrade to a classic tool. For example, when building a search in the ACCOUNTS section, a new world of company employee connections is revealed, including levels of engagement, purchase intentions based on AI data analysis, and key company data, such as their top business priorities and current challenges.

You can organize decision-makers in a hierarchical map or list and keep it updated. The resolution offered by this tool is amazing, and not using it would be a missed opportunity.

It allows you to show prospects that you've done your "homework" at the highest level, helping you create the most accurate funnels that integrate with your CRM and align with your team's needs.

Netta Doron’s Tip: Smart Job Seekers on LinkedIn

Job seekers who use LinkedIn’s AI smartly and pay attention to details will achieve more results with less time and effort.

For example: LinkedIn matches candidates with the most suitable jobs based on their skills and experience according to what companies are looking for. This is based on AI matches that read profile content and social proof, offering a vast network of data with high value and accuracy. Candidates receive recommendations on what is most important to companies, allowing them to write and respond to these topics and adjust their profiles accordingly. 15 InMails per month provide direct access to key people who can advance their careers, bypassing the competition. The "Who viewed my profile" feature shows engagement and reveals valuable data, enabling you to continue relationships with those people. Not using this feature is a missed opportunity. There are also perks like access to the Calm app, Microsoft 365, and BetterHelp therapy (all limited in time).

Netta’s Conclusion: AI isn't just about beautiful images, presentations, or using ChatGPT to write content in seconds; it's about using data effectively to achieve the results you want -faster! As long as others don't utilize this, you have an advantage.

It's crucial not to lose your personality and personal voice—that's what sets you apart from "sounding like" everyone else. I believe that as the use of AI tools grows, the importance of an authentic voice will increase, as will the value of original content creators.

And if you still can't figure out all this and feel frustrated because you have a lot of knowledge and value but wonder why you haven't been discovered yet or why your profile views are low, contact me for help, especially if you are a senior professional.

Rinat’s Conclusion: The philosophical question that's been on everyone's mind for the last year and a half is—where does artificial intelligence begin, and originality end?

I believe that AI can only lead to breakthroughs where originality begins.

Therefore, like Netta, I also recommend focusing on originality and using AI tools to enhance our expression and professional presence on LinkedIn.
