7 Tips To Become More Consistent In Business

Do you struggle with consistency?

Are you stopping short of the finish line? Consistency is the difference between failure and success. Here's why.

Consistency creates accountability for your deliverables in business and goals. It helps you establish your reputation. Being consistent helps you measure your progress and success. Consistency makes you relevant and helps you maintain your message.

Consistency in business enables you to develop routines and build momentum. It forms habits that become almost second nature to you and helps you elevate your business to a whole new level.

Some studies estimate that habits make up over 40% of our everyday behavior. Since we spend almost half our lives on autopilot, learning how to shape and leverage habits to our benefit can have a huge impact.

Being consistent in business builds trust and improves efficiency. Consistency is important, especially in challenging times when people want certainty and reassurance.

It's hard to be consistent because we tend to focus on the outcome more than the process. Put another way, we're more drawn to the positive feelings of outcomes rather than the struggle of the journey. Most of us quit during the struggle before we can experience the rewards of staying the course.

“We are what we repeatedly do.” — Aristotle

How do you grow this essential habit of success when you’re struggling just to keep things steady? Here are 7 keys to being consistent:

  1. Write down to F.O.C.U.S. // Follow One Course Until Success. What do you want? Build a system around it: routines, tasks, people, rewards, consequences, events, tools. What’s the best thing you can do right now? Write it down and then focus on completing it — one 'to do' at a time.
  2. Plan ahead and create a schedule for yourself. Start each day in a state of controlled focus.
  3. Easily distracted? Place reminders in your surroundings to keep you on track (sticky notes with tasks, mojo / goals images or phrases).
  4. Keep going even if you make a mistake. Mistakes give you invaluable feedback. Reflect upon what's not working and how you can optimise things to achieve best results.
  5. Take regular time off to recharge and switch off from constant hustling mode. Ever tried social media detox for example?
  6. Don’t let self-doubt creep in until after you’ve accomplished your goals.
  7. Keep a bigger picture in mind and remind yourself of a longer term benefits whenever you feel like giving up.

Consistency is the reason we have anything worth celebrating in business. and life Agree?
