73% of users admit that it is almost useless, and that Apple AI is not favored?
According to a survey by SellCell, a technology product recycling platform, among users who have actually experienced Apple Intelligence, as many as 73% believe that these features have hardly improved their user experience. Here are some possible reasons why Apple AI is unpopular:
Lack of practicality of functions
Failure to touch pain points: Some of the AI features launched by Apple may be too niche and fail to attract widespread interest from users. For example, more complex features such as "Natural Language Search in Photos" and "Transcription Summary" have been tried by less than 15% of users, while relatively popular features such as "Writing Tools" and "Notification Summary" have also failed to fully meet user expectations and have not really touched user pain points.
Limited usage scenarios: In daily life, when users use basic mobile phone functions such as communication, taking pictures, and video calls, the role of AI seems insignificant. Many users are accustomed to the original operation methods, and AI functions do not bring enough convenience and innovation, and cannot replace past usage habits and convenience.
Poor user experience
Lack of accuracy: The accuracy of AI technology directly affects the user experience, but Apple's AI functions have accuracy problems in some aspects. For example, the BBC once complained that the iPhone's smart summary function generated false headlines, and the New York Times article was also incorrectly summarized by Apple's AI technology.
Incomplete functions: Judging from the reviews of overseas bloggers, Apple Intelligence has not yet realized the function of globally allocating user information for analysis. It can only realize basic functions such as generating simple pictures, optimizing text, and recording calls and converting them into text analysis. There is a gap between the comprehensive analysis and giving the best answers expected by users.
Promotion and update issues

Insufficient promotion: 57.6% of users said that they have not updated their devices to iOS 18.1. This is the main reason why they do not use Apple's AI function. It may mean that Apple's promotion efforts are not enough, or users are taking a wait-and-see attitude towards system updates.
Untimely updates: In the current rapidly developing AI field, Apple's AI function updates relatively slowly. Compared with some competitors' more aggressive R&D strategies and more frequent function updates, Apple's AI seems to be a bit behind, resulting in low user interest.
Privacy concerns
Some users are concerned about the privacy issues of AI functions, which is also one of the important factors affecting their use of Apple AI. In the era of big data, users attach great importance to the protection of personal information. If AI functions have privacy risks in the process of collecting, using and storing user data, it will inevitably reduce users' trust and willingness to use.
Brand competition factors
Common problems in the industry: Apple's AI functions are not the only ones that are unpopular. The survey found that up to 87% of Samsung users have a similar attitude towards AI tools on Galaxy devices, which shows that the entire industry is facing the challenge of user expectations not matching actual perceptions in integrating AI technology into the smartphone experience. Consumers' acceptance of mobile phone AI functions generally needs to be improved.
Competitive product advantages are prominent: Compared with domestic competitors such as Xiaomi and Huawei, Apple lacks in the actual performance of AI applications. Some domestic mobile phone manufacturers have adopted a more radical R&D strategy and launched more functions with practical application scenarios, such as ultra-high-resolution camera shooting and multi-scene video processing, which has substantially improved the user's daily operation experience and made their products more attractive in the market.
