9 Essential Rules To Remove Chaos From Your Life

Have you experienced chaos in your life? Maybe you’re experiencing it right now. That’s a common state of all people around the world. Feeling overwhelmed throughout the day, always thinking about something “important” and not giving yourself time for rest, because of the work.

After several cycles of such a non-stop life, you’ll start to notice that everything that you’ve been building starts to crash. That’s called — chaos. A state when you don’t know where you are or what you’re doing.

I’ve been in the same situation as well. Feeling overwhelmed was a usual practice for me, and I wasn’t even trying to notice something horrible behind it.

So, in this article, I would like to share some of the best pieces of advice that I can give you to remove chaos from your life and start understanding these “How” and “Why”.

Rule #1: Add Some Limitations

Limiting yourself can truly show you the everyday chaos that you’ve lived through before and will make everything much easier.

By adding some limitations to your life, I first mean to declare boundaries in literally every sphere of your life. Starting with eating sugar and ending with deciding on the best future for your company.

And as we know, making a choice is one of the hardest things to do for the brain. When we are constantly searching for different options and can’t even choose at least one, then we have some problems with it.

Imagine that you’ve walked into the store and started looking at a new pair of sneakers. You see so many brands, so many types, and so many colors. Your eyes can’t focus on one thing because of the infinite number of the best sneakers in the world right in front of them.

This concept is known as "cognitive load" and makes every decision much harder. To eliminate such situations, you decide what you want and don’t want. Remember that your main choice shouldn’t be the best, but it should be comfortable for your life.

In the example with sneakers, for instance, you’re choosing to buy only sneakers from Nike and only for running. Suddenly, all that you are left with is to compare 2–3 models that will sit more comfortably on your leg, and that’s it.

You saved a lot of time and effort. You also saved some energy for your brain, so you’ll be able to make more meaningful decisions!

The main thing is that you’re adding them yourself and not listening to anyone who wants to limit yourself; these are only your decisions that will improve your whole life!

Rule #2: Embrace Minimalism

Simplify your life by embracing minimalism. This means reducing your possessions, commitments, and distractions, allowing you to focus on what truly brings you happiness and fulfillment.

You don’t have to impress anyone. You don’t have to buy expensive clothes. You don’t have to buy anything that you don’t need.

And trust me, every one of us has something that just lays in its place and does nothing. It’s not part of the interior and not giving you anything useful by the end.

Make your room more simple, and remove all the unnecessary things. In the current era of consumer society, it’s essential for anyone not to succumb to this trend. If you’ve noticed an ad for a new “useful” thing and want to buy it, then think twice if you need it.

So, be simpler, do not buy what you don’t need, and remove all the distractions from your mind and your environment.

Rule #3: Make Time for Seeing, Not Looking

Throughout the day, we have time to look at almost everything. We’re constantly searching for something, thinking about something, and looking at different kinds of objects. However, in most cases, we’re just looking, and don’t see anything behind it.

Most of us are working without even noticing what is going on around us. We are so focused on what we’ve decided are the crucial things in our lives that we don’t want to spend several minutes looking for something new.

I’m talking about looking at work and not seeing other colors of life, other aspects of life. I’m talking about going for a walk and not hearing the birds. I’m talking about living everyday life and constantly looking at something, without understanding what you’re looking at.

It leads to a large number of troubles, starting with smartphone addiction and ending with bad relationships with the people surrounding you. Try to live a more meaningful life by not only focusing on your work and career.

By implementing this rule in your life, you’ll become less stressed and more mindful. With these essential things in our lives, you will notice how chaos is disappearing.

Rule #4: Delegate and Collaborate

Don’t try to do everything on your own. Delegate tasks to others when possible and collaborate with colleagues, friends, or family to share the workload and reduce chaos in your life.

That’s also a common mistake when people are so obsessed with work that they forget that they cannot do everything alone. You can’t be good at programming, design, and marketing at the same time on the same level.

You should concentrate on collaborating with other professionals in different spheres and delegating some of the tasks to their shoulders. It’s especially useful for entrepreneurs who start building their businesses alone.

However, if you’re a leader, you need to understand the basics of each of these areas. In other words, you should understand the fundamentals of UI/UX design, and have a basic knowledge of programming and marketing, so that you can communicate with your co-workers more efficiently and delegate tasks more effectively.

In a nutshell, you should be good at something but not at everything!

Rule #5: Embrace the Power of “Done”

Perfectionism can lead to procrastination and disorganization. Instead, focus on completing tasks to the best of your ability within a reasonable time frame.

Remember, a completed task is better than a perfect but unfinished one. It’s better to build an MVP of the project and know what to do next than not do anything at all.

It doesn’t matter how large your steps are, the main thing is that you’re not staying in the same place. Everything that you do should be moving you forward toward your goals, and you should be hard on yourself if you haven’t done it perfectly.

For instance, if you'd planned to read 50 pages but could only manage to read 30, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. However, you still read 30 pages, which is a good start. You can continue reading a little bit more the next day.

I have been in that situation myself. Being hard on myself was a usual thing as well. When you’ve worked for a whole day but still tell yourself that you could do more, this is not the best way for anyone.

You should think more about adding value than spending more time. Embrace the power of “Done” and remove chaos from your life much quicker!

Rule #6: Declutter Your Space

Your mind can only be clear if the environment surrounding you is clear. As we discussed previously, move towards minimalism and remove all unnecessary items from your life.

The same goes for your room or workspace, where you spend most of your time. Everyone needs to clean up after themselves, vacuum, remove dirt, and so on. In other words, you should spend a little time each day maintaining beauty and order in your workspace.

It’s not as hard as you might think. Spend just 10–15 minutes making your bed and dusting, and your brain will thank you.

Rule #7: Establish Routines

It is essential for everyone, not just for someone who wants to remove chaos from their lives.

When starting to learn or add something new to your life, it’s crucial to establish a routine. This will help you develop positive habits throughout your day and life.

Start your day with a morning routine. Choose the most important things for you and add them to this routine. For me, this includes meditation, reading, and cardio, and only then do I start working.

By doing this, I always feel energized and motivated to wake up every day. It also makes me more disciplined, so any other hard things in life will get much easier!

Rule #8: Focus on Meaningfulness

It’s important to focus on what gives meaning to your life. This could be spending time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby, or volunteering for a cause you believe in.

When you focus on what truly matters to you, you’ll find that your life becomes more purposeful and fulfilling. It’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life, but taking the time to focus on what’s truly important can help bring clarity and calmness to your mind and space.

Never forget what you want. Others may try to impose their principles and visions on you, causing you to live their lives instead of your own. Pursue only what is truly meaningful for you!

Rule #9: Remove Multitasking From Your Daily Life

Multitasking is one of the most harmful things in the current world. Our brains are not designed to handle multiple tasks at once. So when you try to talk to someone and read a book, it leads to chaos, and you can’t concentrate on anything.

Instead, focus on one task at a time and give it your full attention. This will help you stay organized.

Try to remove multitasking from your life as much as possible. Try not looking at your phone while eating, not listening to music while you’re walking, and not thinking about anything else while you’re working.

Conclusion

In conclusion, by implementing these 9 essential rules to remove chaos from your life, you should have a clearer mind and a more organized space. You should be able to focus on what truly matters to you and be more mindful of your daily routines.

Remember, it’s important to establish limitations, embrace minimalism, and delegate tasks when necessary. By focusing on what brings meaning to your life and removing multitasking, you’ll find that your life becomes more purposeful and fulfilling.

Use these rules as a guide to declutter your mind and space and start living a more intentional life.

Such a great article! I'm doing most of this but still there are so many things to be done. And anyway, no matter what sphere you are in - I suppose these tips are powerful. It's just hard to have enough strength to put it into a habit on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing
