Today I will describe the degree of effectiveness achieved when we synergize groups of collaborators.

In organizations, we regularly hear about the importance of teamwork, but few of us stop analyzing this concept in depth. Most of us interpret this as getting together to work on the same topic or task, but this has much more depth.

Before starting to describe the premises of teamwork, I would like to give you the definition of this concept:

Teamwork: Ability to direct your team's effort around the organization's strategic goals. It contemplates the skill to guide each of the members according to the opportunities, taking advantage of the aptitudes of each one.

The goal is to be able to combine the skills or aptitudes of each of the members towards a common goal. The latter will allow us to describe a term that describes the above "Synergy" and that is nothing more than adding individual actions, with the difference that the result exceeds a normal algebraic sum. (1 + 1 = 3).

With the clarity of these 2 concepts, I dare to describe to you how to integrate the talent of a group of collaborators to obtain fantastic results:

Something important is to understand that not every project or task must be faced as a team, where participation would give us a greater algebraic operation. The answer is "No", the principles of effectiveness establish that there are situations that must be resolved by the Leader otherwise the collaborators feel that they are invading a process that does not correspond to them and that this situation does not need their participation, on the contrary, their participation hinders the obtaining of the result. (low effectiveness).

Here are 9 tips to join wills and integrate an Effective Work Team:

1.   Understand the problem: To understand the problem, information must be collected, sorted, and analyzed and thus have a diagnosis that will allow us to detect the profile of the people who should make up the team.

2.   Select suitable members: Not just any collaborator can integrate a team, this is not a matter of desire or wanting to work together. This refers to the capacity or ability that the individual has to act, as well as the power to adapt to the group and thus obtain results that meet or exceed expectations. The sense of diversity is core.

3.   Availability of Participants: You can have the right participants, but what about their availability to participate? Some collaborators may be going through difficult times or with enough workload to take on more responsibilities or even do not want to participate.

4.   Sell the Project or Task: Use a good communication process to sell the project and meet the expectations of the participants. Do your best, don't take participation as a must.

5.   Clarity of Roles: Once selected and with the acceptance of the participants, then assign a specific role to each member, where their responsibilities and level of coordination with others are described in detail. it is important to bring the team together and make clear the shared vision must always prevail.

6.   Establish rules for conflict management: It is very likely that during the project, conflicts will arise as a result of the interaction, so I recommend designing a series of rules (the same team can help you) where a code is made clear before certain situations. In these moments, the managerial ability of the Leader takes value.

7.   Make clear the expected or deliverable results: From the beginning, the team members must know in detail what they focus on, the way forward, and the results they must obtain. (deliverables)

8.   Create a Gantt Chart with Activities and Participation: Clearly define blocks of tasks that order the participation and optimize interventions. The purpose of this schedule is to manage the energy of the team to avoid wear and tear. In addition, it will help you balance the workloads of the participants.

9.   Allocation of resources: Guarantee the resources from the beginning to the end of the project. It is very demotivating to start activities and after a while explain to the team the need to stop and see how everything goes to waste. If you do not have 100% resources, explain to the team the possible alternatives to continue.

During the project the Leader will have to mediate conflicts, and not let the team lose focus and encouragement, it will be essential to recognize intermediate goals to keep the team enthusiastic and optimistic.

As we can see, joining a team is not just bringing together a group of people who want to work together. The possibility of an effective process increases by following the premises described earlier.

It is essential to make a diagnosis and determine the skills, availability, roles, rules, and even the number of participants.

Remember, before undertaking any initiative, analyze whether the project is solved individually or if a joint effort is needed.

I hope these definitions have provided the opportunity to build skills that translate into more effective performances in the future.

Questions or comments, I will have the best disposition to receive them and to be able to give you an answer. Remember that I am available on my social networks and phone.

Thank you for your attention and have a great week.
