9 Ways To Keep Your Workouts Varied & Exciting

9 Ways To Keep Your Workouts Varied & Exciting

Staying fit and healthy is a journey full of excitement, and endless possibilities always pushing your own boundaries for what you can achieve...

But we all know it's easy to get stuck or bored with our workouts - which is completely normal.

The solution?

Here's 9...

1. Try different ways of exercising

It can get very boring doing the same thing over and over again, so mix it up:

  • Strength training: Play around with free weights, machines, and bodyweight exercises
  • Cardio: Rotate between running, cycling, swimming, rowing, and HIIT
  • Flexibility and mobility: Stretch it out with yoga, Pilates, or other stretching exercises
  • Balance and stability: Challenge yourself with exercises on unstable surfaces like BOSU balls

Its amazing what just bringing in one or 2 new exercises into your routine can do for you.

2. Challenge yourself

  • Plan your workouts in phases with different focuses and intensities
  • Switch up the exercises for each muscle group

3. Increase your intensity and the amount you do

  • Adjust reps and sets: keep your muscles guessing by changing your routine every few weeks
  • Vary weights and rest periods: Use varied weights and rest periods to consistently challenge your body

4. Change your workout style

  • Supersets and circuits: Combine exercises with minimal rest for a high-intensity workout
  • Pyramid and drop Sets: Play with weight and rep variations to intensify your workouts

This is what we have been doing a lot lately, adding in a little challenge at the end and its making the workouts way more exciting.

5. Do something you haven't done before

If there is something you haven't done before and would like to try, now is the time to give it a go. The key here is to just experiment!

  • Outdoor adventures: Try hiking, rock climbing, or paddle boarding
  • Sports: Engage in your favourite sports like running, or swimming for a fun workout
  • Dance: Get fit with dance classes or Zumba

6. Change your scenery

  • Outdoor workouts: Workout in parks or beaches (super important as we get closer to the darker mornings and night)
  • Different Gyms: Experience new environments and equipment by trying out different rooms where you workout from home or gyms

7. Workout with a friend or family member

A workout partner can add a fun dynamic and keep you motivated - rope someone into it!

8. Set goals that excite you

If it doesn't get you out of bed, why do it?

  • Set short-term challenges to keep pushing yourself
  • Set yourself the challenge of mastering new exercise skills

9. Seek Professional Guidance

Get a professional can offer personalised advice and varied routines tailored to your needs.

Happy Exercising!
