Accessing Wisdom During Difficult Conversations - The Sageship Path To Maintaining Psychophysiological Coherence In The Hardest Times
I spoke with a Client Yesterday about the Psychophysiological State of Coherence during Difficult Conversations.
Let me make it Simple.
"Coherence" is when our Mind and Body (Psycho = Mind, Phsyio = Body) work Together Optimally.
Within Sageship, this is a Reference to the 4 Brain Systems.
Each Brain System has Different types of Information they are Processing and Conversing About with the Other Systems.
When this "Conversation" is Working Well, it Creates Coherence.
Peace.
Wisdom.
Calm.
When the "Conversation" is Not Working, Chaos.
Anxiety.
Fight-Or-Flight.
Reactionary.
Panic.
To Perform at our Best, we want to Achieve Coherence.
But, there is Another Interesting Aspect we Must Consider regarding Coherence...
Other People.
When you Dig Deep into our Neurocardiology (Heart-Brain), you discover that our "Hearts" literally Communicate via Electromagnetic Waves.
So, you can send Messages of "Coherence" with these Waves, or Messages of "Chaos" (The Technical term is "Incoherence" or "Discoherence").
This Communication goes Back and Forth.
For most people it is Subconscious, but it is a Form of Communication we Can Learn.
It goes further though.
As our Hearts Communicate, they can become "Entrained" to each other.
This means People can "Pull" Each Other into Coherence...
Or into Chaos.
You Know that Person you "Hate" talking to...
Every time "Feels" like they are Draining your Energy?
In a Literal Way, that "Is" Happening.
They are in Chaos.
They "Communicate" Chaos to Your Heart-Brain.
Your Heart-Brain becomes "Entrained" into their Chaos.
As you Sink into the Chaos, your Brain Systems communicate "Dis-Stress", which then Burns through Energy (Mg-ATP) More Quickly.
The Solution Becomes Simple...
Either Do Not Allow Yourself to Get Pulled into the Chaos or "Entrain" the other person into Coherence with you.
My Client thought about this for a Minute...
They then told me this...
"That sounds like it might be Really Difficult to Do..."
I get what they Mean.
For the Vast Majority of People, it "Is" Difficult to "Not" get Entrained into Chaos...
But...
It Does Not "Need" to be Difficult.
There are a Couple of Reasons many Struggle.
First, they Do Not "Know" this is Happening.
When you are in a Battle, and You Do Not Know You're Fighting, it is Difficult to Win.
Second, Most People are Already in States of Dis-Stress.
Burnout is the Worst Form of Dis-Stress, which is where 80% of People Currently Are.
It is hard to Win a Battle You're Already Losing.
Third, Most People Do Not "Understand" the Communication Pathways of the 4 Brains in their Own Bodies.
"This" becomes Very Important.
If you Do Not Understand Which Systems are Communicating What, most people will Default to their "Most Familiar" System.
This makes them Reactionary.
If you are Always Reactionary, you Fall Behind.
Once One Brain System Demands the Lead, the others Follow in Line.
This usually Causes a Chain-Effect Subconsciously into Chaos.
Instead, you Need to "Guide" the Communication.
How does this work?
We "Know" that the Heart-Brain will be the System where the "Entrainment" can Occur.
So it is going to be Busy Worrying about the Chaos of the Other Person.
It will be in a Tug-Of-War with the Other Person.
You cannot allow the Heart to Lead here.
It will simply "Pull" the Other Systems into that Anxiety and Fight-Or-Flight.
Instead, you Need a Counter System.
As the Heart is in "Chaos", you Need a Different System which is in "Calm".
This Creates a Moment where the 4 Brains have Conflicting Information.
This Forces them to Deliberate to "Decide" Which Direction to Follow.
That is where You begin to Control the Tug of War.
You can "Choose" Your Wayset Here.
You Allow the "Calm" System to Lead.
This then Tells your Heart to "Follow".
Your Other Systems Align to Ensure Remaining in "Calm".
The Brain comes up with Strategies to Remain Calm.
The Heart Focuses on Inner Calm and Ignoring the "Dis-Stress" of the Other Person, which can Further Entrain them to You.
The Nervous System Remains Out of Fight-Or-Flight Mode.
The Neurogastroenterology (Gut-Brain) Feeds Energy (Mg-ATP) to the Parts of the Body Focused on Remaining "Calm".
This is also how you Access the Highest "Wisdom" Available to You.
We "Lose" Access to Wisdom when we Fall into the Chaos of Fight-Or-Flight.
Why?
Our Highest Level of Thinking Occurs in "Flow" States, essentially "Optimized" Coherence.
In Flow, our Bodies Optimize Energy (Mg-ATP) towards things like Problem Solving, Creativity, and Pattern Recognition.
This is Where we Find Wisdom.
If you are Unaware of the Process, it will "Sound" Challenging.
But with a little bit of time to Understand the Different Systems, it becomes Significantly Easier to Accomplish.
Choose the Wayset that Leads to Sageship.
