Acquire new skills to get reemployed - #microsoft renews lease of life for many

One of my perks when I was in government service was the opportunity to learn from many other countries. One wise man said that only a fool learns from their own experience, smart people learns from the others.

In the early years when we were doing soul searching to figure out on how are we going to handle unemployment. At that point of time, many chided us for even thinking about this. Economy was doing ok, unemployment level were at almost frictional unemployment level and this was deemed to be resource wasting exercise. But we managed to pull this through. And voila now we have the unemployment insurance scheme which runs the PENJANA schemes. If we didn’t weather the criticism at that point of time, I can’t imagine the panic we would be facing now.

During the many studies we did, almost all the countries whether in the west or east had a common setup in arresting the unemployment issues. That is training, unlearning the old ways, learning new skills, upskilling and the term I like the most multiskilling. I first heard this term from the Taiwan delegation in a conference almost 10 years ago. I resonated very well the term multiskilling as I am a jack of many trades myself.

My parents recognised this need of me to be skilled in as many area as possible. I had my first computer programming lesson in 1983 (Pasar Road School 2). Among many other life skills I learned before I reached university was simple car repairs, most of the Indian restaurant related skills from washing plates to doing roti canai, road making basic and most importantly how to escape and teach a quick lesson to those who dare to bully me. Ahem ahem.

Recently I came across some free upskilling programmes by #Microsoft... Hmm.. what’s the catch is the first thought in my mind... I always thought there is no such thing called free lunch. Surprisingly there was no catch here. So I am going to enrol into one of the programs on it and try it out. Free ma... We Malaysians ma.. must try..

Since I am also a generous person (ahem ahem again) I am going to share it with all my brethren, for all of you to try it out yourselves. The link is as below https://bit.ly/33z20XF?
