After AI, the Next Wave of Legal Tech.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has undoubtedly made its mark on the legal industry, streamlining legal research and offering data-driven insights. But what lies beyond AI in the realm of legal technology? Here, we explore some emerging trends that are poised to reshape the legal landscape. Let's delve into three emerging concepts: Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), and Organoid Intelligence (OI), exploring their potential impact on the legal field.

What is AGI?

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): AGI refers to hypothetical machines that possess human-level intelligence, capable of understanding and learning any intellectual task that a human can. In the legal sector, AGI could automate complex legal processes, conduct nuanced legal research, and even generate creative legal arguments.

Role of ASI in Legal

Artificial Superintelligence (ASI): ASI surpasses human intelligence in all aspects. While the development of ASI is purely speculative, its legal implications are vast. ASI could potentially become legal advisors, judges, or even legislators, raising ethical concerns and prompting discussions about the role of AI in the justice system.

Will OI impact Legal?

Organoid Intelligence (OI): Organoids are 3D lab-grown structures that mimic human organs. OI explores the potential intelligence of these organoids. While the field is in its early stages, OI could have legal ramifications in areas like patenting lab-grown organs and the legal status of AI integrated with organic structures.

These are just a few examples of the exciting advancements that lie ahead in legal tech. As technology continues to evolve, we can expect even more transformative applications that will redefine the way legal services are delivered and consumed.

Do you think we would need stronger legislation globally to stipulate on AI ethics and protect people or is there enough other legislation such as data privacy laws that harness AI (for good)?

AGI is going to create long lasting impact ....  Certain legal professionals’ roles may change, and they could see shifts in their responsibilities, particularly those primarily focused on tasks such as document review, summarization, or Preliminary legal research  .... AGI will create jobs, including Legal engineers ........... AGI could easily be powerful enough on Digitalization tasks (mundane tasks of lawyers today on manual work) to replace both lawyers and judges on those specific activities saving time in the coming few decades (maybe not as it exists today)  .... Thinking the world would have “Robotic Lawyers” or “e-Lawyers” or “Digital Lawyers” platforms very sooner ....
