Age harassment in the Workplace
No matter how hard employers try to dismiss and turn a blind eye on age harassment in the workplace, still it negatively impacts employees, turning their days at work into a living hell.
Age harassment, or ageism, encompasses all discriminatory acts based on a person’s age, unwelcome or offensive behaviors that may violate a victim’s dignity, or frequent and severe conducts that could generate a hostile, intimidating or abusive work environment.
Age harassment is as critical as any other kind of harassment. Thus, employers should stand against it, by averting age-related comments and questions; by grounding rewards and promotions; and by striving to create a sundry, all-ages-inclusive workplace.
