The Age of Love

The Age of Love

(reposting)

It’s an honor and a privilege to be given access to a human heart. A mind. We don’t often see so deeply or get so close. It has been my good fortune to be allowed into many. And in turn I share my own heart and mind. But that is where I believe we need to be. With all people. At all times.

It’s called honesty. It’s called compassion. And lately the world has been running short of both. The age of love is upon us. And we must invite it in and encourage it by letting down our guard and being as emotionally honest and available as we can.

Photography allows me to get close to people. I mean I can see both the pores of their skin and the pores of their hearts. And this is where I like to be. People are more beautiful up close. Their stories are far better than my stories. They are always filled with surprises, and wonders. Always. All of them.

Some say it is not a good time for photographers. There are just too many. And that may be true. But I am not a photographer. I am a seer with a camera and there’s a difference. I seek the truth below the skin. And that is the very essence of the age of love. We must look deeper – past colors and textures and sizes. The heart cannot be measured but through its ability to be compassionate. And that is boundless. So the heart cannot be measured.
