OpenAI’s new 01 model are about step-by-step reasoning, self fact-checking and more rigorous processing: AI reasoning you might even say.
To unlock its full commercial capabilities companies are going to have to become comfortable spending a lot more. If Anthropic reaches $1 Bn in revenue in 2024, OpenAI is at about 4x that and needs to step it up a notch to prove that they are worth the $150 billion they are claiming to be in the latest funding round soon to be announced.
OpenAI has about 11 million paying customers, 1 million of which are on the higher Enterprise tier. With 01’s full potential, they will have a much higher "AI reasoning” tier. High Orion 01 prices for full-access (not just a preview) will be lucrative for OpenAI and part of their plan to have a high-growth 2025 to warrant the $7 Bn. round they will make soon.

Sam Altman is cheerful, hopeful and positive about the future. He’s the most connected Millennial Venture Capitalist in the world with the right Billionaire friends. This is not an ordinary CEO.
In a manifesto titled "The Intelligence Age," posted to his personal website Monday, Altman said that OpenAI's strategy of scaling AI up will continue to pay off.
I’ll share it here so you can analyze it yourself:
The Intelligence Age
“In the next couple of decades, we will be able to do things that would have seemed like magic to our grandparents.
Sam Altman and his team have also released this week, “Advanced Voice Mode”. It’s available for users with ChatGPT subscriptions, which start at $20 per month. The audio feature, which makes ChatGPT more natural to speak with, will initially roll out to customers in ChatGPT’s Plus and Teams tiers. Enterprise and Edu customers will start receiving access next week. It also has more voice.
The company said it’s not yet available in EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland or the U.K. Advanced Voice Mode utilizes the new GPT-4o model (if you can call a Summer model new?), which combines text, vision, and audio processing for faster, more efficient responses.
Advanced Voice Mode is Finally Here
Sam Altman is claiming that his company will reach AGI. A hypothetical commercial product which:
OpenAI defines Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as AI systems that are “generally smarter than humans and capable of performing any intellectual task that a human can do.”
Sam Altman is reaching a lot higher than ChatGPT’s success where millions of users around the world have been mesmerized by fairly basic prompt-to-text functions with now over 200 million weekly users.
Are we on the cusp of an AI summer and how expensive are the best capabilities of OpenAI’s Orion models going to get?
Is Sam Altman Leading us to an AI Summer?
It’s the job of CEOs to “sell” their product. But Sam Altman is taking ideology and Technological Optimism to entirely new heights. With so much support and funding, OpenAI certainly has a good chance at becoming profitable faster way ahead of schedule.

Code is Life
2moAGI is not happening any time soon. LLMs simply work on statistical models and thus are making predictions based on existing data. The data it has at its disposal is all it can use to solve problems. And the data in question is huge. A real mark of general intelligence is actually solving problems with as little information as possible. Currently, what AI systems are doing, is just memorizing a lot of data, and then retrieving it based on your request. An actual AGI system, when queried, would have minimal data set at its disposal which does not have the actual answer to your question. It would then use its algorithms to find the answer or, if it can't construct new algorithms to solve the problem efficiently. It would then respond to your query. This is actual intelligence. And this is not where OpenAI is going towards with their LLM approach. We need a completely different approach to AGI.

2moLeveraging AI properly will demand a better understanding of business and operational context. Otherwise, who will judge if AI is correct or not? Complementing, not replacing. Data is just noise until it is utilised as valid and valuable information. Context and long-term experience make a difference.

2moInteresting point Tech adoption is great but it must be done responsibly. For example we worked on an AI healthcare project that improved claims processing showing how AI can fit specific needs. OpenAI has potential but they will need to balance growth with ethical use. What do you think is the best way for AI companies to scale while being responsible?
