AGI and API, But where is AI ?

This short writing is basically me wanting to talk about things that I feel.

The difference between real AI and everything else is so subtle that people believe there is AI in everything.

I saw an ad of a washing machine in which based on sensor values more powder and water is added. It was an AI washing Machine.

But these sensors have been here from quite some time, there are a million examples such as water level indicators and a lot of other similar sensors. If they are combined together it does not magically become AI.

The hype of AI is actually making it difficult to conclude the best outcomes and solutions related to business needs.

But, Where is AI?

Is it everywhere like big organisations claim alongside pseudo AI intellects who are much more like influencers talking about automation tools mostly.

Or is It nowhere right now.

Also, what happened to conventional AI such as computer vision, NLP, Forecasting and much more, do we still need it or is OpenAI's AGI enough for humanity after this?

Let's take two characters to answer this question at most extremes.

First character is someone who has worked a lot in the field of AI and Data. This character has worked tireless days and nights to develop a standing and expertise which is praised by his piers, his name is "John"

But Second character is totally opposite of John, he understands all his hard work but does not believe that just because he knows more means he is better, his name is "David"

John understands that generative AI is taking the world by storm, but also knows that the world is putting to much burden on it. It should be given some time to settle so that the responses are more stable and accurate.

He also thinks that AGI is not coming and no generative AI model is completely intelligent and every model makes mistakes.

But, David thinks AGI is here, it comes everyday, he posts and boosts about it everyday. He looks happy, feels happy and has a few AI UI wrappers that do not add value.

He also thinks we are not doing enough to help bring AGI soon. At this point it's more like a cult.

Aside from fiction, these characters are trying to tell us something very important. Their opinions are developed based on what they feel . John should understand there is a very thin line between being the knowledge powerhouse and becoming a hater. On the other hand, David is just David, he does not care that much, it could have been anything other than AI as well, his response would have been similar.

Sometimes, David just does things to annoy John, why not it gives him more space. This can be seen a number of times big tech corporation CEOs and Managers have called our technical researchers for no reason at all. Just because they feel like that.

Now, in the real world, generative AI as well as AI agents are one of the best thing that has happened to technology is last few years. But what does that mean?

Should companies use these keywords to lure businesses into wonder land?

Asking for a million dollars for a ChatGPT wrapper?

Something that will need updating once newer model comes or some other change occurs.

So what does this mean? Are UI wrappers bad?

No they are not bad. Just there should be enough value produced.

What is the solution?

The solution is to stick with stable generative AI models, take care of your data and if the models are implemented directly into company's cloud and fine tuned/trained that would be perfect.

I have a few examples of this, but that's for another time. The most important point is not to update or change the tech stack for specific industries until it gives a stable response.

Where does this take us in 2025?

It takes us to more niche down versions of generative AI models combined with conventional AI and automation where it is required.

This can be implemented with what we have today, known as vertical AI agents. These agents will have more precision and accuracy (like old times) and they will solve more industry specific problems rather than focusing on coming of AGI.

No AI was used in this writing. Why?

To keep it short and relatable.

Let me know your opinion on this.

Also Repost if you possible.
