Is Agile Dying? Are We the Killers?

Is Agile Dying? Are We the Killers?

What if we’re the reason Agile is losing its edge?

Are we the reason Agile is losing its spark?

Agile changed everything for product engineering. It made us faster, more flexible, and more collaborative. But lately, it feels like Agile is broken. And if we’re honest, it’s not Agile’s fault, it’s ours.

Where We’ve Gone Wrong:

  • Too Many Rules: Agile was built for flexibility, but now it’s drowning in rigid standups and overloaded sprint ceremonies.
  • Chasing Numbers: Instead of focusing on real impact, we’ve made it about metrics, velocity, burn-down charts, and task counts.
  • Over-Tooling: Simplicity is lost in a sea of tools and processes that create more bureaucracy than results.

What Agile Should Be About:

  • Sticking to the Values: Agile isn’t a checklist. It’s about people, adaptability, and delivering value, not rules.
  • Letting Go of Perfection: Not every sprint will shine. Sometimes breaking the “rules” is how we innovate.
  • Delivering Real Outcomes: Agile isn’t about completing tasks. It’s about making a difference for customers.

So, what now?

If Agile feels broken, we’re the ones who can fix it. Let’s simplify it. Let’s bring it back to what matters.

The question is: Are we ready to leave the complexity behind and return to Agile’s roots?

What’s your take? Is Agile evolving or slipping away?

Let’s talk about it.
