#1 Khamoro Festival celebrates Roma culture all week long
The 26th annual Khamoro Roma Arts Festival in Prague celebrates Roma culture from May 26 to June 1 at Jazz Dock, SaSaZu, La Fabrika, and other venues. Highlights include traditional Roma music, art exhibitions, film screenings, and a parade of Roma artists through the city centre. This year’s theme focuses on education for young Roma. #2 Prague Fringe Festival showcases English-language theater and more
The 23rd edition of the Prague Fringe Festival will bring dozens of English-friendly productions to Malá Strana from May 27 to June 1. #4 Prague will host multiple foreign meetings this week
Czechia will host multiple foreign meetings this week where aid for Ukraine is expected to be the main topic. On May 28, European leaders will meet in Prague to discuss military aid for Ukraine at the invitation of PM Petr Fiala. On May 30-31, an informal meeting of NATO ministers of foreign affairs will take place in Prague. Alongside some the world's most high-profile foreign ministers, including U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg will also be in attendance.
#5 Self-employed: Don't miss deadline to submit insurance reports
If you are self-employed in the Czech Republic, you must show your tax return and submit reports on your income and expenses to your health insurance company (usually VZP) and the Social Security Administration within a month of submitting your return. You can send these via your data box. People who submitted their tax returns around the end of April (by the May 2 deadline) have until the end of May to do this.
