Are AI good Vocal Coaches?
AI is the concept of the moment, everyone is talking about and how it could be the beginning of the extinction of many professions and activities carried out by humans.
But will it be a threat to teachers and vocal coaches, specifically?
The other day in conversation with the wonderful Journalist Elham P.Mohammadi, this topic came up and I decided to share in the form of an article how is AI currently applied in education and give my opinion on the interference of this technology in the future of Vocal Coaches.
"Artificial intelligence in education is applied to improve learning outcomes and supports teachers in developing better educational practices. From automatic assignment grading to tailored curriculums, there are many ways AI consultants can help educational institutions make use of the technology." Source
On this website I discovered what AI technology is doing already for students, teachers and educational institutions.
The 8 most common types of use of AI in Education are mentioned:
Overall, what do students gain?
Overall, what do teachers gain?
Overall, what do institutions gain?
Will AI replace Educators?
In my opinion, at least for now, AI technology will not take away anyone's job in the areas of coaching, training and education.
It will revolutionize the way we learn and it’s about time!

The school models followed in most of the world date back to the 19th century.
It's time to upgrade and put students at the wheel of their own learning process, as this is more than proven by more up-to-date learning models such as Waldorf, Montessori, High Scope and Modern School that really works.
Let's use and abuse from AI and learn! Learning is the key point.
Are AI good Vocal Coaches?
At the moment, my answer is no.
Why?
Because a Vocal Coach, in addition to the Vocal knowledge, also has to adapt that knowledge to each student. This adaptation comes from the ability to read others at every moment: through their emotions, their body language, the sound they emit and many other subtleties that a machine cannot achieve alone.
The life story of each Vocal Coach is what defines their approach and their plasticity for each student.
Having the sensitivity to deal with other people's emotions and creating a safe space for sharing is something very human.
As one student told me today, when sharing that I was writing this article:
"I don't believe an AI Vocal Coach would say to me that I sound so much better when I'm having fun, like you did!"
These are the details that make me believe that what we have to give is unique and based on our ability to improvise, depending on the person and the moment.
In the end, everything is a choice, I'm sure I wouldn't leave my vocal process in the hands of an AI.
And you?

1yVery good insights, Joana. 💡 And thank you for the kind mention of me and our conversation. 🌷 I fully agree with you that AI can augment, not replace, human capabilities in many areas. One of them, in my opinion, is the field of creative work. To me, teaching, training, and coaching are all forms of art and involve a creative process that is not the same when AI tries to replicate it. While we cannot underestimate the capabilities and potential of AI, I believe there will always be a difference between "creating using AI" and "generating with AI". And the creators themselves know and feel the difference better than anyone else. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts on this topic. 💜
