AI standards to support the Global Digital Compact
“AI standards can build trust, safety, and a level playing field for innovation for people across India, the region, and around the world,” said ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan‑Martin at the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA‑24) in New Delhi, India. “The need of the hour is to turn broad principles into clear and implementable standards that ensure AI works for everyone — responsibly and fairly.”
WTSA-24 – convened by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) – follows the adoption of the new Pact for the Future and Global Digital Compact by the United Nations General Assembly on 22 September.
Tech standards to leave no country behind
The ITU standardization conference taking place 15‑24 October emphasizes connectivity, consensus, ethics, and inclusion to build a better digital future for all.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the proceedings alongside government ministers, industry leaders, and ITU officials.
