But as AI becomes more integrated into critical systems, a new kind of threat looms on the horizon: AI viruses. These aren't your typical computer viruses designed to crash systems. No, the real danger lies in tricking AI systems into doing something the attacker wants them to do—quietly, without detection.
Unlike traditional malware, AI viruses are constructs designed to manipulate an AI's decision-making process. Instead of aiming to break or disable the system, the goal is far more subtle: mislead or redirect the AI’s actions to serve the attacker’s purpose. Imagine an autonomous vehicle making an incorrect turn, a healthcare diagnostic system recommending the wrong treatment, or a military AI making faulty targeting decisions—all because an AI virus altered how the system "thought."

As AI continues to come toward us faster than we can sort it out, we set ourselves up for "trial-and-error" as AI learns much quicker than the human brain.
