Alcohol, mice, women, and Burns...
Tonight, I’ll be raising a glass or two to a self-educated farmer’s son.
He was born in 1759 in Ayrshire, Scotland, died in 1796, was a womaniser, sympathiser of the French and American revolutions…and well-known for penning a fistful of famous lines of poetry.
He was also the first person to appear on a commemorative Coca-Cola bottle.
You might know him better as Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.
So tonight, just for the hell of it, raise your glass to the skies, take a few gulps of the water of life, and proudly proclaim “Slàinte mhath.“
