4yIf only there was as much celebration of those who prevented wars, as much honouring of those who decreased the need for excessive militarisation, as much appreciation of legislators who would direct some of the $600 billion spent on the military - more than half of all federal discretionary spending. Imagine what 6% instead of 3% of discretionary federal spending spent on science could have done to save 130,000 lives lost to COVID - more than double the number of Americans killed in the Vietnam War. Some gave all, for sure. But a few took nearly all too. The three richest Americans' wealth is more than the combined wealth of the bottom 40%.
