All roads lead to flex | Oxymorons

All roads lead to flex | Oxymorons

I introduced my son to a duvet day this week, its good to know when you need to give yourself a break.  He needed a day out of school, or any other commitments to reenergise after three full on weeks of SATS, Scout camps (x2), camping with family and not spending enough time at home. Good mental health practise!

Story we simply cannot ignore this week:  Prince Harry says phone-hacking was on industrial scale in UK press

There is simply so much to speculate on around hacking on an industrial scale. Whether targeted at an individual celebrity or on huge scale when it comes to data and fraud: nobody wants to be hacked.

Upflex stories: How Proptech Solutions Are Helping Companies Right-Size Real Estate Costs

Why Read: Upflex CRO Michael Casolo and Newmark Global Corporate Services CEO Rick Bertasi talk proptech tools and solutions for cutting costs and boosting efficiency.

Flex Tech: NYC two year study on Hybrid working patterns

Why Read: The NYC Department of City Planning is joining commercial real estate observers looking to capture the dent remote work is making on the city and its key business districts. The agency is set to launch a two-year study into hybrid work’s effect on the local economy, that will lean on cell phone data to analyse the when, where and how of consumer spending habits, particularly in office districts; cell phone data is more exact for this type of tracking than other data sources.

However with lots of key office buildings excluded from the study – will it really show the true picture?

DEI: Where to celebrate pride in Europe

Why Read: Parades, parties and a whole lot of pizzazz. It’s time to get your Pride plans in check for 2023.

It doesn’t matter a jot whether you are gay, straight or any other shade in between, it’s always fun to attend a pride party :)

Sustainability: Air New Zealand weighing passengers before flying

Why Read:  Air New Zealand is weighing passengers before they board international flights, as part of a survey to determine average passenger weight. The weight will be anonymously recorded in a database but not be visible to airline staff or other passengers, the firm said. Air New Zealand said knowing average passenger weight would improve fuel efficiency in the future.

How do you feel about being weighed pre-flight (bearing in mind this is for future flights, and you may buy some good at duty free before boarding?)

Great concept:  Real estate innovations

Why Read:  Well this made me giggle. Real estate Innovations is actually an oxymoron! Some of this is old technology that is slow to be adopted and some of this is years away from the real estate industry adopting! Either way – I won’t hold my breath for innovation in real estate.

Podcast I enjoyed:  You're dead to me

Why Listen:  I bore everyone in my family on car journeys with episodes from this series, I know loads about Blackbeard (the pirate) and the Aztecs now because of it. Go on test me!

Fact of the week: A shrimp's heart is in its head.

Tune of the week: Tilted Christine and the Queens

And finally...  I think you’re going to find me here quite often now. Loving the events they’re hosting in June, signed up to two already. Huckletree Oxford Street
