Always moving forward: Honeywell’s new Global Migration Control Center offers seamless system upgrade and support

System migration or upgrade is a moving target: it seeks to bring change but not disruption, digitize but not disturb. At the very least, it aims to minimize the impact on the operation.

That’s only possible with careful monitoring and management throughout the process. Without it, the benefits from migration – increased operator efficiency, system reliability, and productivity – may be undermined. Costs can escalate and schedules slip. Preventing that from happening means having the right experts on-hand at the right time to keep migrations on course. And that’s what Honeywell’s new Global Migration Control Center in Pune, India, is all about.

I was recently at the launch of the new facility, which provides a central point for global migration support. It tracks and showcases customer migrations, with dashboards displaying KPIs and the status of various migration initiatives. The center brings together our leading experts who can follow and support customers throughout the migration to improve their experience. It will cover not just Experion PKS upgrades and digitization of TDC and TPS systems, but other projects like QCS upgrades and customers switching to Honeywell from other control platforms.

Even before this new center, effective migrations often saw Honeywell global migration support center experts performing the necessary upgrades on a 24/7 schedule. These migrations can be accessed by technical support specialists and local Honeywell staff or on-site customers on demand, whenever works for them. The result is faster, smoother migrations – and we hope the new Pune center will help us continue to improve that process.

Migration as a part of day-today operations

At Honeywell, our approach to migration services focuses on proactivity; it is no longer good enough to react to pending obsolescence.

New tools and processes enable turnkey modernization methods, giving plant operators the ability to push migration projects live from anywhere in the world with minimal impact on day-to-day activities. The goal is to make the process autonomous, offering real-time upgrades that require little-to-no downtime.

Migrating to a new system should be a simple process. We are continually exploring new ways to help make critical transitions with minimum downtime and unneeded expense. Utilizing secure processes, tools, and a global migration support network, Honeywell can help increase production rates, maintain regulatory compliance, manage risk, extend the life and performance of systems, and improve responses to changing business demands – all with minimal impact on day-to-day business.

We are always moving forward and seeking out new ways to support our customers better.
