Amazon Wholesale 101: How Our Expert Supplier Acquisition Expert Breaks Down The Process.

Amazon Wholesale 101: How Our Expert Supplier Acquisition Expert Breaks Down The Process.

An Article by Zainab Zaidi , a Supply Chain Expert.

Deriving Processes

This is one of my biggest giveaways for all Amazon Wholesale Sellers, or Amazon Resellers. Guys, you have got your hands on something really solid.

Most of the time you have seen how well-structured a private label(brand-selling business ) is whether it's a startup or not.

When it comes to a reselling business, specifically an Amazon Wholesale Business, no one really bothers to segment it and design the process, I'm giving away five business stages and departments to break down your Amazon Wholesale Business.

  1. Wholesale Basics
  2. Pre Hunting
  3. Hunting
  4. Sourcing
  5. Finalization of Product
  6. Launch ( two phases)

  1. Wholesale Basics

Make sure you know all the terms: Amazon Seller Central glossary of terms.pdf

That is important to resellers. You should know the whole business mechanism and how everything works.

2. Pre Hunting

Before you dive into finding the product, try and study Best Selling Rank (BSR)  Thresholds at fbatoolkit.com before you research a product in that category because it gives you a fair idea of how each category performs and what their maximum thresholds that guarantee a solid 30-unit sale/month.

3. Hunting

You have two amazing ways to hunt products, one is manually while the other is using tools. Still, I believe in building a rock-solid foundation and getting really good products one should definitely do manual hunting and then learn to do it through tools like SmartScout and Keepa.

4. Sourcing

There are two methods for sourcing, one is direct sourcing and the other is reverse sourcing. Direct Sourcing requires us to find demand for the product that suppliers/distributors/brands already have, on the Amazon marketplace.

While reverse sourcing means, finding a product and then finding its supply/source. This is what technically happens when you work on Amazon Wholesale chronologically.

5. Product Finalisation

This one is my favorite, I just absolutely love doing this.

Product Finalization is a concept in which we finalize the product after the sourcing price is available for a product.

It includes a few steps

  • Rough Product Analysis and Calculations on ( Product Listing Page: Amazon )

  • If profitable add to the profit template sheet
  •  Check limitations ( By adding the product to Amazon Seller Central)

Confirm exact calculations using the Amazon FBA Calculator

6. Launch ( two phases)

Just a disclaimer( this is how I segment an Amazon Wholesale Business, other people could have different ways to see it)

Typically, a wholesale account has an initial phase where your first inventory goes onboard (for a certain time as a new seller your sales are very gradual and products are fewer).

In this case scenario; you only require basic utilities to simplify processes otherwise complications might lead to delays in onboarding new products.

Launch Phase II

This is typically categorized by :

  • Exponential levels of sales above $5000
  • A catalog of running products above 5 ( adjustable in case of huge volume of sales)
  • Age is above 6 months
  • A certain number of reviews have been built
  • ( Accounts with great sales are best considered for phase II)
