Powered by Anthropic's Claude AI, the new Alexa aims to offer more advanced capabilities and a more natural conversational experience. The move comes after Amazon's in-house AI reportedly struggled with performance issues during initial testing. The upgraded Alexa is expected to provide more comprehensive shopping advice, aggregate news stories, and execute multi-step tasks from a single prompt. While the current version of Alexa will remain free, Amazon plans to offer the new AI-enhanced version as a paid subscription service.
