Is America about to implode?
The battle for leadership in Queensland over the past few months has looked considerably different to the race to the White House. We can now put a lid on the Crisafulli-Miles stoush after the LNP yanked the reins off a Labor party that put up a mighty, but unsuccessful, last minute fight for a fourth term.
Let’s consider that one a soft warm-up for the almighty war of words, lies, taunts and incessant roll-out of celebrity endorsements by Trump and Harris as they face-off to “make America great again”. The whole thing has Jerry Springer vibes, and if you think next week’s presidential election won’t affect you, think again.
Kamala Harris’ lead in the polls has narrowed to only a slight advantage over Donald Trump’s Republicans heading into the November 5 deadline, as she uses this week to urge Americans to vote for a “new generation” of leadership. Trump, on the other hand, is promising to prevent World War 3 if elected..”I will prevent World War 3 very easily, I will prevent it, I know everybody, I know all the players.” God help us all.
Something slightly more upbeat is Australia’s annual inflation rate falling to 2.8 per cent, down from 3.8 per cent mid-year. That’s the lowest annual inflation rate in three-and-a-half years.
Still, the Reserve Bank isn’t tipped to cut interest rates off the back of its meeting on Melbourne Cup day as underlying inflation remains above target at 3.5 per cent. It appears that a cash rate hold on Tuesday is a far safer bet than a punt on the horses.
I hope you enjoyed the read.
