Amy's journey to becoming the fourth president of the Trust is as diverse as it is inspiring. Growing up in Akron, Ohio, in a family that emphasized community engagement and philanthropy, Amy’s early experiences shaped her passion for giving back. Her love for the arts led her to New York, where she worked in nonprofit and commercial theater, only to pivot into historic preservation and environmental advocacy.

At the helm of the Trust, Amy has championed issues like climate justice, affordable housing, and educational equity, all while fostering strong partnerships across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. One of the Trust’s most significant achievements under her leadership is its involvement in climate mitigation efforts through the Community Foundation Climate Collaborative, which brings together 50 community foundations to address climate change at the local level.

She also speaks passionately about the Trust’s role in nurturing new nonprofits, providing early funding for innovative projects, and ensuring that every dollar donated makes a meaningful impact. From grants supporting the LGBTQ+ community to funding critical research during the AIDS crisis, the Trust has consistently been at the forefront of transformative change.

As Amy reflects on the Trust’s centennial celebration, she emphasizes the power of people and relationships in philanthropy. "Community foundations are the great collective meeting place where we can come together, even in a moment of polarization," she says. For Amy, the Trust represents not just financial stewardship but a commitment to connecting generations of New Yorkers through shared values and a collective vision for a brighter future.
