Analysis of Lord Krishna's Horoscope

In astrology, it is believed that Lord Shri Krishna was born during the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. His birth occurred under the Taurus ascendant (commonly known as Lord Krishna's Rashi), during the Mahanishith period. During this significant moment, the Moon was positioned in the Rohini Nakshatra.

At precisely midnight, the Taurus ascendant was rising on the horizon, and the ascendant itself hosted the Moon and Ketu. In this celestial arrangement, the Sun occupied the fourth house in Leo, Mercury was positioned in the fifth house in Virgo, Venus and Shani Dev were situated in the sixth house in Libra, Rahu was found in the seventh house in Scorpio, Mars resided in Capricorn, and Jupiter graced the benefic house in Pisces.

It's noteworthy that, with the exception of Rahu, all the planets in Lord Shri Krishna's horoscope were positioned in their own signs or in a state of exaltation. This alignment reflects the precise mathematical positions of these celestial bodies at the time of Lord Shri Krishna's birth.

While there may be varying opinions on Shri Krishna's birth chart (Shri Krishna Janam Kundali), the mathematical alignment described remains consistently accurate. Numerous pieces of evidence support this assertion. In the commentary found in the third chapter of the tenth section within the Anvitartha Prakasika Tika of Shrimad Bhagwat, Pandit Gangasahay, drawing upon the principles outlined in the Khamanikya astrology book, has elaborated that...

In the book "Chaurasi Vaishnavas Ki Varta," which serves as a collection of stories about Vallabhacharya's disciples, a verse by Surdasji is featured. Written in the poetic language of Braj Bhasha, this verse skillfully weaves the biography of Lord Shri Krishna using his horoscope as a foundation. It unfolds as follows...

In this context, Surdasji not only clarifies the astrological calculations but also breathes life into Lord Krishna's biography by incorporating his predictions. According to the astrological calculations, Lord Krishna descended during the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha in the Bhadrapada month of Ishwar Samvatsar. This momentous event unfolded in the Rohini Nakshatra at Nand Baba's residence, coinciding with the formation of the auspicious Harsh Yoga.

Taurus was the ascendant sign, with the Moon exalted within it. The Sun occupied the Leo sign in the fourth house, Mercury found its place in the fifth house in Virgo, and Venus and Saturn coexisted in the sixth house in Libra. Rahu was positioned in the seventh house in Scorpio, while Ketu shared the first house with the Moon. Mars, the Bhagya Bhava, stood exalted, and Jupiter was situated favorably in Pisces. The only uncertainty remains regarding the specific phase of Rohini Nakshatra during Shri Krishna's incarnation. Broadly speaking, it is assumed that Lord Krishna's childhood coincided with the Moon's Dasha, adolescence with Mars's Mahadasha, and youth with Rahu's Mahadasha. Subsequently, during the dashas of Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury, Lord Krishna played the role of the narrator of the Mahabharata.

Now, there are several predictions applicable to the horoscope of any common individual that yield remarkable insights. Firstly, the presence of the Sun in the fourth house, within its own sign, indicates the disruption of the maternal uncle. Since Libra resides in the sixth house for Lord Krishna, this aspect pertains to the maternal uncle as per Bhavat Bhava Siddhanta. The eleventh house, represented by Libra, or Leo, serves as the lord of obstacles for the maternal uncle. Remarkably, at around the age of 11, Shri Krishna defeated Kansa. Reviewing the sequence of dashas reveals a gap of ten years under the Moon's influence, followed by a gap of the Sun in the sixth year within the Mahadasha of Mars. It is during this period that the native's maternal uncle faced defeat, as indicated by Surdasji. This placement highlights the Sun's influence in the fourth house, leading to the maternal uncle's downfall.

Secondly, the positioning of an exalted Mercury (Mercury in the Fifth House) in the fifth house is noteworthy. Traditionally, the fifth house signifies children, and Mercury is linked to offspring. Therefore, the presence of an exalted Mercury here suggests that Lord Krishna would have many children, indicating a prediction of numerous progeny.

Concerning the sixth house, Surdasji asserts that with Venus in its own sign and Saturn exalted within the sixth house, all adversaries of the individual are vanquished. Astrologically, the sixth, eighth, and twelfth houses are permanent residences of Saturn. The presence of Saturn in the sixth house implies powerful adversaries; however, Venus mitigates their influence. As reflected in the horoscope, Lord Krishna constantly faced formidable adversaries throughout his Leela. His enmity ranged from the emperor of the Yaduvanshis during his childhood to later conflicts with the enemies of the Pandus when supporting Pandu's sons during the Mahabharata. Despite the emergence of powerful adversaries, Lord Krishna consistently emerged victorious.

As per Surdasji, the seventh house's placement of Rahu suggests that Lord Krishna had relations with women of various backgrounds, high and low. In astrology, the presence of malefic planets in the seventh house can indicate multiple relationships. However, the inclusion of Rahu in this context adds a layer of uncertainty, signifying that the status of the women involved with Lord Krishna was diverse, ranging from high caste to low caste. Yogiraj, as portrayed, loved all equally.

Surdasji presents an important insight: the presence of Ketu in the Lagna (Ketu in the First House) keeps Lord Krishna's focus on Chaurya Karma, or thieving activities. While this is typically true for fair-skinned individuals, it's essential to note that personal experiences suggest that when Ketu is in the ascendant, the individual often has a fair complexion. Generally, those with Ketu in the ascendant do not possess a dark complexion. Ketu is akin to Mars (Kujvat), and in no circumstance does Mars or Ketu darken one's complexion. Upon careful consideration of the verse, Surdasji appears to emphasize that the combination of Ketu in the ascendant and a dark complexion leads to a propensity for theft. This implies that if a person's horoscope features Ketu in the ascendant and a dark complexion, they might be inclined towards theft. While such circumstances are exceedingly rare, they underscore the possibility that an individual with Ketu in the ascendant and a dark complexion may have a predisposition for theft.

Conventional astrological wisdom suggests that malefic planets are auspicious when positioned in the central houses, while benign planets fare well in the triangular houses. However, Surdasji challenges this notion, arguing that the exalted Mars in the ninth house (Mars in the Ninth House) provides Lord Krishna with nine treasures, signifying all forms of happiness. Surprisingly, it has been observed that even malefic planets, which typically yield unfavorable results in triangular houses, can generate favorable outcomes when in an exalted or comfortable position.

My Analysis of Lord Krishna's Horoscope

As a student of astrology, I find that Lord Shri Krishna's horoscope sheds light on several astrological principles. Firstly, when the second house remains unblemished, meaning no planetary influence or aspect, and it's exalted, it signifies a highly eloquent individual. In Lord Krishna's case, as a Taurus ascendant, the second lord, Mercury, is exalted in the fifth house. This configuration endowed Krishna with unparalleled oratory skills, captivating audiences such that no one dared interrupt his discourse. Even the likes of Shishupala, in their foolishness, met their inevitable fate for interfering. My studies also offer insights into other planetary influences…

The House of Valor (Third House in the Kundali)

The third house holds a direct correlation with valor. It assumes great significance in Lord Krishna's horoscope. The Moon, ruling this house, is exalted and situated in the ascendant. Moreover, this house receives the auspicious influence of both exalted Saturn and Mars. This combination brings about remarkable fluctuations in outcomes associated with courage. On one hand, we witness Krishna inspiring Arjun to stand resolutely amidst the Chauakshuni army and the formidable Kaurava warriors. On the other hand, we observe the same Krishna adopting the role of Ranchoddas, playfully escaping challenging situations. We witness supreme bravery and, concurrently, the art of tactfully retreating from battles. Both these extremes stem from the influence of Mars and Saturn on the third house, which represents valor.

The Fraternal and Friendly Influences (Jupiter in Eleventh House)

The Sun in the eleventh house signifies an individual's elder brother and friends. Jupiter's presence here suggests that these aspects will be notably absent. Seven siblings preceding Shri Krishna's birth perished due to Kansa's whims. Balaram, his elder brother, had a complex birth, as he had to transfer to Rohini's womb to evade danger. Despite being real brothers, they grew apart, with differences arising over the Syamantaka Mani, ultimately leading Balaram to remain neutral during the Mahabharata war, as he had taught Duryodhana, the Pandavas' adversary, mace combat. Balaram's role as a brother did not unfold as favorably for Krishna as might be expected from a sibling. Had Balaram joined the Pandavas during the war, they might have had an advantage even before the battle commenced. However, this was not in alignment with Krishna's divine plan, hence Balaram's non-involvement.

The Sun in the Fourth House

The house in which the Sun resides must bear its heat. When the Sun occupies the fourth house in Lord Krishna's Kundali, separation from the mother is inevitable. Both Devaki, his biological mother, and Yashoda, his foster mother, endured the loss of their sons. After birth, Shri Krishna could not remain with his biological mother and, as he reached adolescence, had to part ways with his foster mother.

Jupiter in the House of Gains (Jupiter in the Eleventh House)

Jupiter is a planet that not only impacts the house it occupies but also influences the house of gains and losses. Jupiter's beneficence in this position challenges Lord Krishna to attain success through unconventional means. His incarnation was marked by facing challenges head-on and making every situation appear like a divine play. The eleventh house pertains to Saturn. When Jupiter resides here, direct paths to success are elusive, necessitating hard work to accomplish objectives. Whether it was changing his progeny to ensure his safety, unleashing the Sudarshan Chakra to vanquish Shishupala, relocating to Dwarka for the Yaduvansh's development, or persuading Bhima to slay Jarasangh, Krishna's every action seemed to involve calculated maneuvers. These tactics often appeared insurmountable, yet Shri Krishna intuitively orchestrated circumstances in his favor.

Children and Mercury (Mercury in the Fifth House)

In astrology, Mercury in the fifth house typically signifies the birth of a female child. However, my observation suggests that the strength of the Moon in one's horoscope correlates with the number of sons one may have. A strong Moon increases the likelihood of conceiving sons, while a weak Moon increases the likelihood of daughters. In Lord Krishna's Kundli, where we see exalted Mercury in the fifth house, and Surdasji mentions a significant progeny, I assert that a potent Moon in the Ascendant is more influential in determining the birth of sons. In this context, Mercury indicates an increase in the number of offspring. Thus, the fifth house reflects the quantity of children, while the Moon's position in the horoscope determines their gender.

Saturn and Venus in the Sixth House

Lord Shri Krishna's most powerful house in his horoscope is the sixth house, associated with ailments, debts, and enemies. However, a paradox exists here. Despite this house's challenging connotations, Krishna excelled in facing adversity and turned his divine pastimes into a captivating game. The presence of Mars and Saturn in this house, symbolizing bravery, introduces an intriguing duality. On one hand, we witness Krishna's courage as he stands resolute on the battlefield amidst formidable adversaries. On the other hand, we observe his artful retreats from confrontations, suggesting the influence of Mars and Saturn on the house of valor.
