Published on October 13, 2017, Resolution No. 686 revokes several Norms and Technical Regulations for the Certification of Telecommunications Products.

For the publication of the resolution, the Directing Council of ANATEL - Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações took into account:

  • the scenario of rapid technological development in the telecommunications sector, with the manufacture of products on a world scale and at an ever-increasing speed;
  • the need to update technical references in order to keep up with technological developments and avoid blocking the use of products that have new technologies in the country;
  • the current system of establishing technical requirements by means of the List of Technical Requirements for Telecommunications Products (LRT), which is more in line with technological developments;
  • the need to standardize the Agency's internal procedures for product certification purposes;
  • the record of the case file nº 53500.009149/2016-55; and
  • the contributions received through Public Consultation No. 34 of December 2, 2016.

The Resolution will come into force 120 (one hundred and twenty) days after its publication.

In the event that there is a change in the technical requirements applicable to the products already certified or to the products that are in conformity assessment process on the date of entry into force of this Resolution, ANATEL will establish a deadline to adapt to the new requirements, during which time the commercialization may be maintained for products with a valid type-approval certificate.

UL is once again accompanying and contributing to the Agency during this time.
