Anger issues !! Decision making !

Angry💢

As Laxman pierced Kumbhakarna with his potent arrows tormenting him, he was further enraged. Kumbha looked like a mound of collyrium, decked with gold & shone like radiant Sun with its rays screened by clouds

Kumbha spoke disrespectfully to Laxman-You declared your heroism fearlessly in battle by attacking me, who has conquered even Lord of death effortlessly in combat. Anyone who stands before me holding a weapon here is venerable, what to tell about a person who forces battle upon me? Even Indra mounted on Airavata didn’t ever stand me in battle. I’m gratified by your strength & abilities but would take leave from you. I desire to kill Rām alone (& not you), for when he is killed, all of you will be dead

Laxman replied bursting with laughter-O brave demon! You mentioned that while you show your prowess which Indra & others feel unbearable? Is it true? Just now I’ve seen your excellence being hit by me. Fight me first & then think about my brother. Kumbha brushed aside Laxman & ran towards Rām

Rām employed spell of charm arrows called Rudra into Kumbha’s chest. Flames of fire mixed with particles of charcoal came forth from the face of Kumbha as he was running towards Rām. Kumbha roared terribly with rage as arrows adorned with peacock plumes penetrated his body, his mace dropped from his hand & fell on the ground. With all his weapons destroyed, Kumbha fought fiercely with his arms & fists as he was bathed in blood, devouring Vānaras, demons & bears

Kumbha then took hold a huge rock & hurled it towards Rām. With 7 golden arrows, Rām split it into pieces & it fell on 200 monkeys. Laxman then spoke to Rām to devise a strategy to kill the giant, said-Kumbha is not able to recognize who are Vānaras & who demons and thus is devouring his army & also ours. Let the Vānar generals ascend him from all sides & surround him. Doing such, he would be harassed by the huge weight, making him crawl. He will thus be unable to kill Vānaras. Immediate action was taken. But Kumbha shook the climbing Vānaras off with violence, as vicious elephant shakes off his mahout

Seeing Vānaras thus, Rām was enraged & ran speedily towards Kumbha with his bow. He saw Kumbha like Mandara mountain, licking corners of his mouth which was bathed in blood, trampling Vānaras resembling Yama

Getting angry is a natural human reaction but how to use anger for a cause we all need to learn & practice. As anger short-circuits our intelligence & impels us to do things which we regret later, it may seem a good proposition to take resolution of being anger free

But being anger free is not a good argument as it also has its functional purpose. It tells us about the intensity of our emotions when something which is important to us, goes wrong. Being indifferent to getting angry means, we do not care for anything even terrible wrongs

Hanumān used his anger not for self-aggrandizement but to serve Rām. We have a clue here in using anger for a higher purpose
