Announcing the #WICxWellness Summit 2025: Call for Speakers Now Open!

In 2024, Women in Cloud made history by setting a Guinness World Record for the Most Users in a Vision Board Video Hangout, with 600+ vision board submissions. Through this transformative experience, we discovered one of the most prevalent aspirations among our community: improving executive functioning, and mental and physical wellness.

This insight has shaped our 2025 initiative—#WICxWellness, a final frontier that aims to empower women with education, tools, resources, and support to achieve high executive functioning through wellness.

The Rationale!

Women spend 25% more time in poor health compared to men, often enduring nine years of diminished productivity due to untreated conditions, including executive functioning decline. This decline affects decision-making, focus, and productivity, further limiting their contributions at home, in the workforce, and within their communities, especially in high-demand roles. Tailored wellness solutions targeting hormonal health, stress management, and mental well-being are essential for professional women to thrive. Closing this gap has the potential to drive significant economic and societal gains—potentially adding $1 trillion to the global economy by 2040. This represents not only a monumental financial opportunity but a chance to transform the health and well-being of millions of women globally.

So, why Executive Functioning as a key theme for this Summit:

In the AI-powered economy, women often juggle multiple responsibilities, making strong executive functioning skills essential for success.

Understanding Executive Functioning

Executive functioning refers to a set of cognitive skills that enable individuals to manage themselves and their resources effectively to achieve goals. These skills include decision-making, focus and attention, planning and organization, emotional regulation, adaptability, time management, and problem-solving.

For women in tech, particularly those in high-speed environments, honing executive functioning skills is crucial. Here are a few reasons why:

  • Enhanced Decision-Making: The ability to analyze situations and make informed choices swiftly is vital in tech roles that require quick problem-solving.
  • Improved Focus and Attention: Maintaining sustained attention amidst constant distractions ensures productivity and quality of work.
  • Effective Planning and Organization: Setting clear goals and organizing resources systematically leads to efficient project management and successful outcomes.

Executive functioning includes:

  • Decision-Making: The ability to analyze situations, prioritize tasks, and make informed choices swiftly and confidently.
  • Focus and Attention: Maintaining sustained attention and avoiding distractions, even amidst high-demand environments.
  • Planning and Organization: Setting clear goals, creating actionable plans, and systematically organizing resources to accomplish objectives.
  • Emotional Regulation: Managing stress and emotions to maintain resilience and clarity, especially during challenging situations.
  • Hormonal, Mental, and Cardiac Health: Manage all the health-related indicators effectively
  • Adaptability: Responding to changes with agility and effectively handling transitions in both personal and professional settings.
  • Time Management: Allocating time wisely to balance responsibilities at work, home, and in the community.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying challenges and developing creative solutions to overcome obstacles.

Examples in Action:

  1. Navigating Complex Projects: A software engineer leading a development team must plan the project roadmap, delegate tasks, and adapt to changing requirements—all of which require robust executive functioning.
  2. Balancing Work and Personal Life: A film producer managing demanding production schedules while caring for family needs strong time management and emotional regulation skills to maintain balance and prevent burnout.
  3. Adapting to AI Technological Advances: In an industry characterized by rapid change, the ability to learn new tools and adapt to evolving technologies is essential, highlighting the importance of cognitive flexibility.

Focusing on executive functioning empowers women in tech to navigate their complex roles more effectively, leading to personal well-being and professional success. By enhancing these cognitive skills, they can better manage the demands of their careers and contribute meaningfully to the tech industry.

What a lineup! The #WICxWellness summit is going to be great! It's time for us to become more intentional and proactive about our own physical and mental wellness. It's costing us all a fortune! Not to mention, we are very busy humans at work and at home. We are also #caregivers for the young and old and are less likely to prioritize our own health needs. It's time! See you on February 6th. #WellnessJourney #ExecutiveFunctioning #SelfCare
