Another One-Two Punch For The Plains
Over 150 tornadoes terrorized the central Plains from April 25 to April 28, including a deadly EF-4-rated tornado in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Now, some of the same places impacted in the heart of "Tornado Alley" are on alert for two new rounds of storms.
Today, the threat zone stretches from southern Minnesota southward through eastern Kansas. According to the Storm Prediction Center, an enhanced, or level 3 out of 5 risk, impacts some 2 million people. Cities in the threat zone include Kansas City, Des Moines, and Topeka.
On Wednesday, a different storm system emerges from the Rockies, placing much of Kansas and the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles in the highest risk area. Cities like Dodge City, Lincoln, and Midland are places that could see the worst of the storms.
Here is the two-day threat with the yellow and orange areas places with the highest storm threats:
In addition to a tornado threat, the highlighted areas could also see large hail and damaging winds up to 70 mph.
Prepare your business!
Among the places hardest hit in the EF-4 Oklahoma tornado Saturday was a distribution center for a major retailer. It's yet to be determined whether they had sufficient warning to shelter staff working at the time.
That's the thing about severe weather; we can "hope" it won't happen, but there are dire consequences if we don't plan to protect property and our most valuable asset, people.
WeatherCall, a service for businesses, and HazardCall, a companion product that helps manufactured home communities, have already begun notifying clients in the risk area to prepare.

Only some people outside the weather industry receive the above outlooks as soon as they are issued.
That's just one way this service is unique. The other is its ability to reach you in three different ways: phone calls, texts, and emails.
Along with visual radar displays so that you can see the threats, you get the "all-clear" to know when the danger passes. This reduces downtime and lost revenue.
