On antibiotics and the timeliness of laws.
The fact that the golden era of antibiotics is coming to an end is not only lazy.
Antibiotic resistance has already become the number 3 problem according to the WHO classification and will soon become the number 1 problem.
There is much talk about the limitations of the use of antibiotics in agriculture and the food industry.
Adopted Roadmaps and Laws to limit the use of antibiotics in livestock and poultry.
The EU countries are especially successful in this.
So, from 2024, the Law comes into force, according to which in the EU countries it is prohibited to register new and re-register used antibiotic preparations containing antibiotics for use as therapeutic agents in the cultivation of animals and birds.
And this is the main volume of antibiotics that is now used in agriculture.
Antibiotics are allowed to be used only for treatment!
This is certainly a hundred times correct.
But I would also like to create something as a real equivalent replacement for antibiotics ... After all, washing hands alone cannot solve the problem (smile).
The latest figures from the European Medicines Agency show that cumulative sales of veterinary antibiotics in the 25 countries of the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) fell by almost 47% from 2011 to 2021.
Exceptions with a minus sign: Greece, Cyprus and Italy.
These countries have one of the highest rates of antibiotic use. I don't know of any other country in the world that uses antibiotics in such quantities per kilogram of live weight.

About the cons.
First: to put it mildly, productivity does not grow.
Secondly, the cost of production increases significantly,
And finally
thirdly: a significant decrease in production volumes.
An example of France is in the past (sad smile) a major producer of poultry meat.
In France, they proudly reported that over the past 15 years they have almost halved the use of antibiotics in poultry farming.
And over the same period, from the country of the exporter of poultry meat, they turned into an importer.
Own production in France now covers only 46% of the market!
Everything else imports and imports are mostly from non-EU countries.
And from countries that are not as strict as EU countries in controlling the use of antibiotics.
And I don’t know: maybe we shouldn’t bankrupt our domestic producers?
But still get meat with the same, or rather even more, amount of antibiotics.
In my opinion, this game is not worth the candle.
