Be Anxious for Nothing

It's Monday which means a new day, a new week and a new season as we move into summer! Did you know Monday's are when the highest incidents of heart attacks and suicide happen? For some, Monday can feel like a time of pressure, overwhelm, anxiety, discouragement, disappointment and hopelessness. Let's face it, life is hard and when you don't have hope it's discouraging.

I grew up in New York, Italian and Catholic surrounded by extended family. I'm thankful for that upbringing, as there was a lot of love, quality time, character built and I understood there was a higher power that was good. With that fortunate childhood, there was still hardship, loss, striving, addiction, illness, division, unforgiveness and hurt! It's just a part of life and I certainly don't have to look far to find someone who had it much worse than me.

Years later in my late 30's, I had a revelation that I had somehow missed previously which was a turning point for me. We relocated to Dallas and a new friend and neighbor Bill Arnold, came over to share an Abundance Life training that he had used in his business and with groups around the world.

Much of it was familiar to me having studied personal development and having gone to Catholic School. But there was one statement that he began to read when I stopped him mid sentence. . . . Be Anxious for nothing . . .!!! Be anxious for nothing!!! Really!!! Why had no one told me this before? I don't have to be anxious for anything? I truly had no idea.

I grew up hearing "I'm worried about this and I'm anxious about that and I'm afraid this could happen.

Be anxious for No Thing!! Really? For me it was freeing! I felt a weight physically lifted. In a moment I felt relief. It was a significant milestone, however it's always a work in progress.

Once that sunk in, I let Bill finish his sentence: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and humbleness, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds.

Since hearing that over a decade ago and letting it sink in, I remind myself of that promise daily and it's helped me overcome the small things and especially the big ones! I stand on that promise when ever I feel a situation is out of my control, when the circumstances are less than excellent, when the hardship seems too great or I simply need to trust in the best possible outcome.

I have no idea what your situation is but even if it's:

An unfaithful spouse

A prodigal child

A bad health report

Suffocating debt

Loss of a parent

Unemployment

Separation from Loved Ones

Addiction

Moving

. . . you can be anxious for nothing. Of course we do have a part to do in making our situation better, however when we remember we can pray, be humble and give thanks, peace can overcome us, give us understanding and protect us.

I invite you to try it. If you are feeling anxious, if your situation seems too big, if nothing seems to be improving your outcomes or you simply believe you were made for so much more than your current existence, try being anxious for nothing.

I have reminders around me like the t-shirt I'm wearing today that says "Too Blessed To Be Stressed" or a sign in my office that says, "All things are possible . . . " or the simple sign that hangs over my bed that says, "Blessed".

If you are anxious, imagine being able to release it. Most anxiety comes from fears about the future. 95% of the things we fear will never happen. The truth is that we only get today, so make the most of the present. It's a gift.

As a reminder, my talents lie in health. If your health, lack of it or desire to have super levels of health are a goal, it would be my honor to work with you so that you never have to be anxious about your health. Imagine sleeping deeply, waking up energized with mental clarity, having the strength to get through the day and knowing your body is functioning and detoxifying optimally. If you want to live in a body you love, I'm here to help.

I would love to know how I can help you with your health goals!

Be well and be anxious for nothing!
