Apple Supports States Sales Tax Holiday Promotions

What is a sales tax holiday?

Apple fans and consumers have something to get excited about as a few States in the U.S. are currently, or getting ready to start, giving customers an opportunity to purchase items without paying sales tax. The promotion is aimed to increase consumer spending and economic growth.

What is the purpose of the holiday?

The promotion, while only temporary, is designed to give a jump start to local economies before the back-to-school shopping season by enticing shoppers to buy big-ticket items such as an iPhone, iPad, or MacBook without paying sales tax. With sales tax being waived on these items, States are hoping to increase foot traffic in stores and increase online sales while giving consumers an added financial incentive to purchase high-priced items.

List of States that are offering the promotion:

Currently this tax-free promotion is being offered by seven States, each with their own guidelines, dates, and products that are considered eligible:

1.      Arkansas                     August 3rd – August 4th

2.      Florida                         July 29th – August 11th

3.      Massachusetts              August 10th – August 11th

4.      Missouri                      August 2nd – August 4th

5.      Ohio                            July 30th – August 8th

6.      Tennessee                    July 26th – July 28th

7.      West Virginia             August 2nd – August 5th

For customers, you can save money on some of the most popular products around.  There really has not been, and likely will not be for a while, a better opportunity to buy a new iPhone, iPad, or a MacBook.

Perfect timing...

This promotion is directly tied to the back-to-school shopping season, so students, teachers and anyone else who uses Apple products can take advantage of the promotion. The tax-free promotion is hoping to give local economies a lift by increasing foot traffic for retailers and hopefully increasing revenue from other purchases while customers are out shopping.

With seven states temporarily waiving sales tax on certain products, you, the consumer, have an opportunity to both save money and pick up some new Apple products. Whether upgrading or simply buying your first Apple product, consider doing it now while these tax free savings last.
