As the tech giant Apple steps into the world of artificial intelligence, the industry is buzzing with anticipation. Let's explore what we can we expect from Apple and how this may shape the AI marketplace as we currently know it

Apple, known for its sleek devices and user-friendly interfaces, has been silently working on their AI offering. With 21 AI-related acquisitions under its belt since 2017 and the recent hire of John Giannandrea, a former Google AI executive, we have to wonder whether Apple is playing catch-up with rivals like Google and Microsoft or whether they are one step ahead..

Their focus is on generative AI, which involves tools like ChatGPT that create text or images based on prompts and looking at their job adverts, most of them mention “Deep Learning” and with Apple's ambition to bring generative AI directly to our pockets we could see AI really accessible to everyone in a way like we have yet seen.

Whilst Apple have made this announcement, I think it's safe to say that the Iphone 16 will be an AI device..although if rumours are to be true, we won't be seeing this until 2025, which does leave me thinking that AI may be in a whole new place by then.

There is more!

It isn't just the Iphone that Apple are making headlines for, but their new Vision Pro headset is their boldest new product since the introduction of the very first iPhone.

Early reviews are gushing with praise with users across social media raving about how realistic the visuals look, how intuitive the hand gestures feel and how immersive and novel the entire experience feels.

So what is it?

Apple Vision Pro is a groundbreaking mixed reality headset running on Apple VisionOS (Apple’s first spatial operating system.). It transforms how you interact with apps, entertainment and the world around you by using your eyes, hands and voice. I trialled one whilst in London recently, and it blew my mind! Gone are the days of grainy displays, the Vision Pro allows you to become immersed in 4k but and to capture photos and videos in 3D.

It's not just the apps and tools that we know and love Apple for, but there are some new and really exciting features, including:

• Replacing monitors with multiple screens to create a virtual working space
• Being able to take your office/workspace with you on the go
• Watch screens simultaneously
• Attending team calls virtually
• Watching movies and playing games on large screens

Do i think this is a big deal?

Yes!

I think the Iphone transformed the mobile phone from what we knew, to what we have today, and whilst Apple have set the trends on smart watches and tablets, these have only been an extension of our mobile phones. Apple Vision Pro is exciting, it doesn't feel like just another VR headset, but the start of a new journey of a device that could replace smartphones and laptops as we know it.
