Apply for funding to support equity in the skilled trades

If you are a union representing workers in the Red Seal trades, a not-for-profit organization, for-profit organization, municipality, an Indigenous organization, or a member of a provincial or territorial government, you can apply for funding now and help pave the way toward a more inclusive skilled trades workforce in Canada!

The Government of Canada has issued two Calls for Proposals (CFP) to help diversify apprenticeship in Red Seal trades:

  • Through Stream 2 of the Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP): Innovation in Apprenticeship, funding of up to $5 million is available for projects that support innovative approaches or expand on best practices to address challenges for apprentices to complete their training in Red Seal trades.
  • Through the Women in the Skilled Trades Initiative, funding of up to $3 million is available for projects that will encourage more women to pursue a rewarding career in the trades and work to reduce barriers in the industry such as access to flexible childcare, absence of separate changing rooms or absence of women role models and mentors.

These CFPs will be open until December 1, 2022.
