Theme: Spring: A time of Joy & Renewal!
Springtime is a season of joy and renewal, as the world awakens from its winter slumber and bursts forth with new life and energy. I don’t know about you but I have tons of buds in my yard that are ready to burst!
And this season provides us with a unique opportunity to reflect on our lives and consider what we want to bring into it. It’s also just as important to consider what may be best to let go of, before the year slips away from us.
The beauty of spring reminds me of the many blessings that surround me, and it encourages me to focus on the positive aspects of my life.
What about you?
Do you take time to pause – to see the growth of the seeds you planted earlier this year - in your yard, in your relationships, in your career, and in your own self-growth?
For me it means taking the time to appreciate the beauty of nature, spend time with those I love, and pursue my passions and interests.
Springtime provides a sense of hope and optimism, reminding us that anything is possible if we believe in ourselves and work towards what is most important in our life.
As we contemplate what we want to bring into our lives and what we want to let go of, we can take inspiration from the natural world around us. Just as the trees shed their leaves in preparation for new growth, we too can let go of things that no longer serve us, such as negative thoughts or habits.
And just as the flowers bloom and the birds sing with joy, we too can bring new energy and enthusiasm into our lives by pursuing our dreams and embracing new opportunities.
Slow down, breathe, allow for quiet time, and time with your loved ones.
We are all gardeners of our lives, nurturing, cultivating, and choosing to let go of what no longer serves us in order to allow our true authentic self, our essence, the true core of our being to be revealed.
It’s time to weed those things out of our life that drain the nutrients and energy from us. Keep tending the seeds you’ve planted this year, and be diligent to stay centered and grounded amid the chaos.
We have a little ‘Zen bunny’ statue in our garden, which is an intentional reminder to slow down, pause, and remember to enjoy the environment surrounding me. Each time I look at it, it encourages me to slow down and continue to make positive changes before the year slips away from me.
If you’re not spending your time on the things that matter most to you, how are you choosing to live your life?
I invite you to embrace this season of renewal and growth with an open heart, open mind, and let it inspire you to greater heights - to continue to grow and become your best self.
Adding Creativity…
Within neuroscience we are strongly encouraged to cultivate the ability to have fun and play.
This approach to life has been shown to promote neurogenesis that helps to keep the brain younger for longer. However, we do make a distinction between play and fun, because a person having fun is not following any rules and has the freedom to do the things they enjoy. A personal playing a game or trying out a new coaching exercise can still have fun, but they will be following a set of rules and will, therefore, have some boundaries in which to operate.
So the idea of adding creativity into coaching is to be open to try new things and tap into the inner child so you are free to escape the real-world and explore a creative space together.
Tools to develop creativity.
When adding creativity into coaching or developing our creativity, we normally need to prioritize the experience over the tangible results. The absence of a goal can sometimes be an essential condition, any may feel a little alien. Above all this is about simply having the experience, finding the fun in life or taking the time out so you can marvel at the unexpected. A person who truly cultivates their creativity, even in small doses will:
Being open to new experiences will involve having a high degree of openness when it comes to concepts, beliefs, perceptions, and assumptions. It helps us tolerate ambiguity and involves being able to accept a lot of conflicting information without the need to ultimately close down the experience. This complete openness to be in the moment, and experience what is happening right now, will undoubtedly be one of the conditions if you want to gain access through creativity.

So just what is Transformational Coaching?
Transformation has become a popular term in business, leadership, and coaching circles. Unfortunately, when a word is used so freely, we often lose touch with its true meaning and use it to describe something it is not. This can happen when the words ‘change’ and ‘transformation’ are used interchangeably.
We make changes all the time - to the way we look, think, feel, and act. If we have intentionally set out on a course of action to learn or grow—to communicate better, to manage our emotions more effectively, to be a better friend or partner—we have likely grown and changed, but have we necessarily transformed?
All transformation is change, but not all change is transformation.
As Alice said in her Wonderland experience, “at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.”
In simple terms, transformational coaching is focused on enabling self-actualization. Far more than ‘options-strategy-action’ to attain goals or clarity or to get better at something, transformational coaching dives deep into an individual’s inner self (essence), focusing on who that person is and desires to become. Transformational coaching is therefore an ontological approach because it is about ‘being’ rather than ‘doing.’
The great transformational coaching question is therefore, “Who do you choose to be?” and what makes the process transformational is learning and doing what it takes to grow into the embodiment of that choice in being.
People still bring their personal goals, objectives, and high dreams to the table in transformational coaching conversations; however, we are aware that those function as the context for the deeper dive within and are not the end game in themselves. The driving question remains grounded in a choice in being: Who do I need to be in order for my goals or dreams to become a reality? The ‘becoming’ process is the transformational path, and the end game is the embodiment of higher than realized levels of existence.
Must-reads
The Calm Calendar is an invitation to meet your life with presence and curiosity.
After reading a piece of news, I heard myself say, ‘wow life is getting more and more…’
And I stopped.
I caught myself and asked, “how do I want to consciously finish that statement”?
More and more what?
“I want to be better tomorrow than I am today.”
This particular philosophy is one I can really get behind. So many of us fall into that trap of striving to be ‘better than”…pretty much everybody else!

Monthly Focus: Think About It
Ambiguous images.
Some illustrations are optical illusions. When two people view the picture, they may see completely different images. A good example is Rubin’s Vase. One viewer may see a vase, while another sees two faces. The same can be said about perspectives. What is one perspective that you see in a certain way, and someone else you know sees it another way?

What's Next?
I want to share with you some personal challenges this past week that have really seen me lean into my Sage, Sage perspective, and especially Sage contagion. My niece had a hysterectomy one week ago, and is recovering at my sister’s home since they live together in a multigenerational family. This week, what was a routine colonoscopy has led to my sister being diagnosed with colon cancer. As she lost her husband 2 years ago, I am now walking this journey with her.
She goes in for surgery next week, and perhaps chemotherapy after that. We won’t really know more until after the surgery and the results from the biopsy are returned. For me, this past week has been filled with doctor visits, CT scan, MRI, and all the information downloads in order to best support her.
It can be so overwhelming, if we choose to let it.
I am fully leaning into my Sage both personally, and as I help to keep her grounded and living in the present moment. I know from my own healthy issues that it’s sometimes too easy to consider the “what if’s”- becoming mired in fear of the future and losing the joy in the present. For me (and for her) we choose to live in the present and make our choices based on the here and now.
If you are so inclined, I ask for your positive vibes, thoughts, and prayers and energy to be sent Sharon’s way. Thank you for your loving consideration!
