aps' Hybrid Approach
What do you get when you combine event production specialists and technical whizzes who have four decades of experience? The know-how and expertise to confidently navigate events through a pandemic – and most importantly, to continue creating connections for clients.
More or less overnight we switched to delivering virtual events. Now, as live events start to open, we’re finding hybrid an increasingly popular approach. And we can see why! As the most flexible option, clients can interact directly with audiences, via a live feed from a TV studio and our aps BRIDGE in Cheadle, anywhere in the world.
The Brief
Last month three of our projects team; Dan Holmes, Phil Gannon and Emily Hartley headed to London to deliver a hybrid event for one of our pharmaceutical clients. The brief: to turn an empty set into a sparkling newsroom resembling a primetime favourite and livestream a series of keynote talks to over 100 delegates globally. With a blend of pre-recorded and live faculty presentations, and multiple production elements, this was an ideal project for aps to work on.
The Event
Our creative team transformed the studio, with graphics and branding to match the client’s brief, while our digital team worked on a purpose-built platform on aps VENUE to host the live feed, act as an exhibition hub for delegates, and gather a wide range of event analytics including attendance numbers and demographic insights. To drive engagement and bring the virtual audience closer, aps added a word cloud and social wall to the exhibition too, providing another indicator for our client on delegate enjoyment and participation.
Live polling and Q&As were also featured, the faculty continued discussions while the online audience took the time to vote and send questions. The end-result was a series of brilliant polling results which could be discussed live, and questions for the faculty to answer, sent in by the viewers at home.
Why a professional studio and aps BRIDGE?
Opting for a professional TV studio means sound and visuals are consistently at a premium quality, and by keeping technical facilities away from the studio venue and in our aps BRIDGE, everyone’s life is made easier. Onsite, our team and client can focus on the necessities – creating a natural environment for the faculty to interact with each other (without worrying if they’re on ‘mute’), and a world-class hybrid event for delegates to watch from wherever they are. At our aps BRIDGE, we can feed any remote faculty members into the event while maintaining a livestream free of glitches, unnecessarily overcrowding a room, while keeping the client’s expenditure and carbon footprint down.
Without a doubt, hybrid events require a unique set of considerations, but they can still be just as special. if anything, the past two years gave us a chance to flourish at what we do best. Going above and beyond to build events, always flexible in approach to client needs.
