The Argentine government will boost wind energy
The Argentine government wants to continue expanding the sectors that would benefit from incentives to boost development in the short and long term. However, there is a sectoral working table that will be activated in the short term with the aim of announcing new agreements before the end of the year: renewable energy. And as it turned out, relief from the tax burden will be repeated.
The commitment to renewable energies made investments through tenders under the three editions of Renovar. The Government wants for this sector that foreign companies install factories in the country to integrate national parts instead of importing everything. Those who do will have incentives, according to sources of the Ministry of Production that are part of the organization of this working table.
The country requires investments of USD 15 billion over the next eight years to achieve 20% of renewable sources. The Government estimates that 24,000 new jobs will be generated in the local industry and 3,000 in maintenance and associated services.
In the world of wind power, Vestas, Nordex (Acciona), Siemens-Gamesa, GE and the Chinese company Goldwind are finalizing this official proposal, in coordination with the Renewable Energy Secretariat in the Ministry of Energy. There are two companies that are closer to arriving. The government estimates that local integration would raise the price of energy in dollars slightly, but it is offset by tax revenues.
The target is also to have duty changes - some would fall from 16% to zero - to be able to import parts and components that are not manufactured here, integrating small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
As it is a new industry and has little development on local soil, the key is in attracting technologists. The towers of the mills are already made here-they are 22% of the mill's total-, and the blades and nacelle, which contains the generator, would be made. And in solar energy, the sectoral tables will seek to coordinate incentives not to manufacture panels, but for example the sun followers. Corven and LV Energy are some of the players in the sector.
