Arnika Dawkins: How To Turn Your Passion Into Livelihood

Arnika Dawkins: How To Turn Your Passion Into Livelihood

The #NewBusinessMindset podcast is a series of conversations with business and community leaders about becoming more successful, fulfilled and happy in your career and in your life. You can listen to the latest interview here and learn more about the podcast here.

In this week's show co-host Todd Schnick and I talked with Arnika Dawkins.

Arnika Dawkins is the owner of her eponymous fine art photography gallery established in Atlanta in 2011. The gallerist shows work by talented emerging and mid-career artists with a specialization in showing fine art photography by African Americans and images of African Americans. Her passion is connecting collectors to photography that is significant, inspiring and provocative. As a fine art photographer and avid collector herself, she is a valuable resource to collectors and artists alike. She obtained a Master of Arts in Digital Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

We had a fascinating conversation with Arnika about her life and her career and about the place of art and creativity in modern America. Highlights and take-aways inclided:

  • That it is possible to take our passion and turn it into a living;
  • The extent to which art and creativity enriches our lives and opens us up to experience passion;
  • It’s all a process!

You can contact Arnika by email at agd@adawkinsgallery.com, by Twitter at @ADawkinsGallery, or by phone at (404) 333-0312 and you can find out more about her gallery at Arnika Dawkins Gallery.
