Arrogance vs Confidence, the difference?

Arrogance vs Confidence, the difference?

The difference between arrogance and confidence lies in the ability to embrace one's own vulnerability.

Arrogance lives and thrives on a superficial platform which does not acknowledge one's own vulnerability. Vulnerability is something that is feared and run from in arrogant people typically caused by a deepened lack of self-esteem. To the arrogant, vulnerability is a perceived weakness.

Confidence lives and thrives on a genuine and authentic platform which embraces one's own vulnerability. Vulnerability is a recognized sense found in confident people allowing one to proceed ahead in a calculated and cautionary manner. To the confident, vulnerability becomes a character strength.

I find it very interesting that vulnerability is a perceived weakness in many people and a character strength in others.

Ok, what does this have to do with college? Not much directly, however, I mentor young people to be confident, not arrogant. It's a big difference. Arrogance causes many problems at college, while confidence provides for college success...just a thought as kids get ready to head to college in a month or so.
