ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A FRIEND OR FOE

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: A FRIEND OR FOE

Artificial Intelligence a.k.a AI has been making a lot of noise since last couple of months. People were giving their mixed opinions on whether or not their career is under jeopardy due to AI… and here I was sitting in my office wondering…

“is it that bad?? Being a tiny contributor to the universe of filmmaking and advertising... is it really going to impact my advertising agency…??”

Then I remember a piece of advice given from a wise person.. I don’t remember who gave this advice.. so let’s assume.. I am that wise person and I gave myself this advice.. :)

“It’s better to get to know a stranger, before giving out a judgement about whether or not you want to make him your enemy or a friend”

Since last couple of months, I have been teaching myself to open up to the new change that is already at our doorstep. People across the globe are using AI for their business etc.

So here are my thoughts:

  • Sometimes I consider myself as a lazy person. Especially when it comes to “working” on non-creative aspect of my advertising agency Kalakriti Films. I don’t consider myself working when I am writing, shooting or supervising in the post production. This is like an oxygen to me… So, when it comes to preparing a marketing plan, social media campaign, or even for email marketing etc. I feel like AI can be a pretty clever virtual employee for such tasks.

  • This makes me to write point no. 2; Script writers, Graphic designers and even Video editors, to some extent, are under the notion that these new innovations will affect their jobs. Yes! It will.. It will make your work easier. Let me break it down for you.. Shall we?? Correct me if I am wrong, but AI technology works according to the data we “humans” have given.

(Also, I saw in K-Drama “Start-up” I have seen that AI can only work to the extend of the information given-in while developing the technology. If you want to expand its spectrum of working- you need to give additional data to train it. So that it can even detect the medicines too; those who have seen “start-up” will get it.. LOL; Also I feel bad for Han Ji-Pyeong… I was hoping that Seo Dal-mi will pick him… Uff.. Focus Kriti..)

Well, as I was saying… AI will work, no doubt but Human Intelligence is beyond boundaries. You just need to grow your brain by thinking beyond the boundaries. AI is your virtual employee not your competition. AI is here to upgrade your game. Not to kick you off.

  • Since last couple of years, we were having innovations and development on a horizontal level. We were just trying to improve ourselves and existing technology. There was no vertical growth happening. Now through AI, we are having such growth and development. I can totally understand the fear and agony it comes with it.

Let’s think about a time when people were introduced to the first washing machine, refrigerator, television. Or even to the internet. Our older generation is still finding it tedious to use WhatsApp; They miss the random get-together they used to have with friends and family. No one used to pre-inform about their plans for visiting. Now it’s gone in thin air. Now people expect to inform them in advance. Ohh I guess I lost my track again- We creative souls are like this only… Focus Kriti..

My point being, it’s difficult to adapt change. But it will be even more difficult if the change make you feel left out. Let’s be real here… FOMO Su^Ks

Conclusion

I personally believe that AI can be a huge game changer. Having said that Human Intelligence should NEVER EVER be put to rest. Just because a technology is getting your work done.

It’s time to upgrade your intelligence with the help of AI.. not the other way around.

Let me know your thoughts too..
